Jia Yun Bun Shop Introduction
Chen Genghan, the owner of a guesthouse in Beigang, launched a special "Lucky" steamed bun to express gratitude for Mazu's blessings. This allows visitors to Beigang to enjoy buns and dumplings comparable to those served in 5-star hotels. Having once served as a head chef in a prestigious hotel, Chen, after many years of working abroad, always cherished the idea of returning to his hometown in Yunlin to settle down. Finally, when the time was right, he returned to Beigang with his wife and children to start a business. He mentioned that under Mazu's protection, having food brings good fortune, and being well-fed gives one the strength to create their own luck, which led to the birth of Lucky steamed buns. The main filling is made from carefully selected, fresh, local Yunlin Happy Pork hind leg meat, conveying the spirit of local tradition. Considering the modern preference for refined food, the size of the buns has been slightly reduced, but each bun remains hearty and satisfying. In addition to the Lucky steamed buns, the shop also offers delicious shrimp dumplings made with quality ingredients, crafted using a multi-step siu mai technique, paired with a special sauce and hot and sour soup for an impressive flavor. Next time you visit Beigang, besides paying your respects, you can also try the local delicacies in the alleys.
