Taiping Mountain National Forest Recreation Area Introduction
The Taiping District features the Nanhu Mountain Range, the Sanxing Mountain Range, and the Dabajian Mountain Subrange, famous for its abundant growth of red cypress and Taiwania. In the past, it was one of the three major forest areas in Taiwan alongside Alishan and Baxianshan. The average annual temperature is around 13 degrees Celsius, and Taiping Mountain is often shrouded in mist. The diverse tree species display different sceneries throughout the seasons, earning it the nickname "the paradise on earth." The Taiping Mountain National Forest Recreation Area covers a vast area, including scenic spots such as Renze, Lantai, Bailing, Taiping Mountain, Cuifeng Lake, and Sandie Waterfall. It also plans recreation facilities like Jiuzi Water Hot Springs, forest bathing trails, and geothermal egg-cooking areas. Within the park, original forest trees are preserved, along with the remnants of cable cars, mountain tracks, and small trains used for past harvesting operations, allowing visitors to reminisce. When visiting Taiping Mountain, one can ride the "bongo" car, deeply inhale the phytoncides, and immerse oneself in the forest, basking beside the ethereal Cuifeng Lake in the mist, or quietly admire the sea of clouds and sunrise from Taiping Mountain in the early morning, observing the ever-changing ecology and climate of the mountains. During autumn and winter, the maple leaves turn red, attracting large numbers of tourists for photography. The mountain cherry blossoms, plum blossoms, and Taiping Mountain white cherry blossoms also showcase various beauties with the changing seasons, giving the Taiping Mountain National Forest Recreation Area a different appearance each season, waiting for travelers to visit.
