Taiping Mountain National Forest Recreation Area Introduction
Taipei District is home to the Nanhu Mountain Range, the Sanxing Mountain Range, and the Daba Jian Mountain Subrange. The area is renowned for its production of red cypress and Taiwan cedar, and in the past, it was ranked alongside Alishan and Baxianshan as one of Taiwan's three major forest areas. With an average annual temperature of around 13 degrees Celsius, Taiping Mountain is always shrouded in mist, boasting diverse tree species that change with the seasons, earning it the nickname "a paradise on earth." The Taiping Mountain National Forest Recreation Area covers a vast area, encompassing attractions such as Renze, Lantai, Bailing, Taiping Mountain, Cuifeng Lake, and San Diego Waterfall. Recreational facilities like the Jiu's Spring, forest bathing trails, and geothermal egg-boiling areas have also been planned. The park retains primitive timber, and remnants of the cable cars, hillside railways, and small trains used for production back in the day allow visitors to reminisce. At Taiping Mountain, one can ride the "bengbeng" car, deeply inhale the phytoncides, and immerse themselves in the forest, surrounded by the ethereal mist near Cuifeng Lake, or quietly admire the sea of clouds and sunrise over Taiping Mountain in the early morning, observing the ever-changing ecology and climate of the mountains. Every autumn and winter, the maple leaves on the mountain turn red, attracting large numbers of tourists for travel and photography. Cherry blossoms, plum blossoms, and Taiping Mountain white cherry blossoms also display a variety of charms with the changing seasons, ensuring that the Taiping Mountain National Forest Recreation Area presents a different face in each season, waiting for visitors to come.
