Wanglong Pond Introduction

Wanglong Pond, also known as Ruanyan Pond, is located behind Hushan Elementary School in Zhenshan Village, Yuanshan Township, Yilan County. This lake was naturally formed several centuries ago due to a mountain flood at the foothills of the Dajia River. As Wanglong Pond is a mountain lake, its waters are related to the livelihoods of local residents, prompting the elders of the area to name it Wanglong Pond from an old proverb, hoping for abundant rainfall. The scenery at Wanglong Pond is beautiful, surrounded by mountains on three sides, featuring a traditional Chinese red nine-arch bridge and a red arched bridge across the lake, which connect the scenic views at both ends of the pond. It is a great spot for leisure in Yuanshan Township. Due to its picturesque landscape, Wanglong Pond became a filming location for the popular idol drama "Next Stop, Happiness." The lakeside café was renamed after the village in the drama - Huatian Village - and has become a resting point for tourists coming to admire the lake's beauty. Visitors can stroll along the lakeside trail to enjoy the beautiful waters and breathe in the forest's phytoncides. They can also ascend the Feilong Trail to the observation platform, which is about 1 kilometer long, overlooking Wanglong Pond. Depending on the weather, the lake's surface displays different light and shadow changes, providing a unique experience.
