Wanglong Pond Introduction
Wanglong Pond, also known as Ruan Pond, is located behind Hushan Elementary School in Zhen Mountain Village, Yuanshan Township, Yilan County. Formed naturally at the foothills of Dajiaoxi due to mountain flooding centuries ago, Wanglong Pond is a mountain lake closely related to the daily lives of local residents. The local elders named it Wanglong Pond, derived from an old saying, hoping for plenty of rain. The picturesque scenery of Wanglong Pond is surrounded by mountains on three sides, featuring a traditional Chinese-style red nine-curve bridge and a red arched bridge over the lake, connecting the beautiful views at both ends of the pond, making it a great recreational spot in Yuanshan Township. Due to its stunning lake and mountain scenery, it became a filming location for the famous idol drama "Next Station, Happiness," and the lakeside café was renamed after the show's village name – Huatian Village, which has also become a resting point for visitors to enjoy the lake and scenery. Walking along the lakeside trail to appreciate the waterfront views and absorb the fresh air of nature, visitors can also climb the Feilong Trail to the observation platform, approximately 1 kilometer long, where they can overlook Wanglong Pond and experience the changing reflections on the lake surface depending on the weather, creating unique feelings each time.
