Furen Hiking Trail Introduction
Are you longing for a primitive natural mountain forest adventure? Do you want to plan a light hiking itinerary suitable for both adults and children? The Furen Mountain Trail, located between Laozhuang Road and Yangsheng Golf Course in Yangmei, is the perfect destination! This narrow hilly area was originally a military control zone, but after the lifting of martial law in 1949, it was opened up, and many hikers developed trails, gradually making this place a popular hiking spot. The trailhead on Furen Road features a large map indicating the elevation, along with walking sticks available for hikers' use. The trail's elevation ranges mostly between 240 to 360 meters, with ridge lines approaching 600 meters, offering a gentle slope. The total length of the outer trail is about 6 kilometers, connecting the First Mountain, Second Mountain, and the golf course. The entire area has three main lines, with the upper path close to Yangsheng Golf Course and the lower path near Laozhuang Street. The middle area has several branching paths, and the forest environment along the way is relatively uniform, making it feel like walking through a wild maze, adding a lot of fun to the hike. First-time visitors are advised to take the main line, either going left or right, which takes about 2 hours. Compared to many hiking trails paved with concrete steps, walking on the dirt paths of the Furen Mountain Trail feels more connected to nature. Some steep sections have ropes, and there are steps made of wooden boards, pebbles, and discarded tires. Due to years of controlled access, the trail retains its most pristine mountain forest appearance; towering trees like acacia, camphor, phoebe, and tung trees allow hikers to weave through the green shade, feeling the gentle breeze and inhaling the refreshing aroma of phytoncides. Occasionally, the sight of butterflies fluttering and the presence of large stag beetles add surprise to the travel memories.
