Furen Mountain Trail Introduction
Looking for a primitive nature mountain adventure? Want to plan a light hiking trip suitable for both adults and children? The Furen Mountain Trail, located between Yangmei Laozhuang Road and Yangsheng Golf Course, is the perfect destination! This narrow hilly area was originally a military restricted zone but was opened after the lifting of martial law in 1949. Many hikers have since established the trail, making it a popular walking spot. At the trailhead on Furen Road, there is a large map indicating the elevation, and walking sticks are provided for hikers. The elevation ranges from about 240 to 360 meters along the majority of the trail, peaking near 600 meters at the ridgeline, with a gentle slope. The entire outer route is approximately 6 kilometers, interconnecting the First Mountain, Second Mountain, and the golf course. There are three main vertical paths in the area, with the upper path adjacent to the Yangsheng Golf Course and the lower path near Laozhuang Street, while multiple intersections run throughout, creating a labyrinth-like experience with similar forest scenery to immerse hikers in nature. First-time visitors are recommended to take the main trail, either going left and returning right or vice versa, with a journey time of about 2 hours. Compared to many hiking trails that are paved with concrete steps, walking on the dirt paths of the Furen Mountain Trail is much closer to nature. Some steep areas feature ropes and steps made of wooden boards, pebbles, and discarded tires. The trail, due to long-term access restrictions, has preserved its most pristine mountain forest appearance; towering trees such as acacia, camphor, nanmu, and tung trees create a shady green canopy for hikers to wander under, allowing them to feel the gentle breeze and breathe in the fresh, pleasant air filled with phytoncides. Occasionally, butterflies flutter by and large stag beetles appear, adding surprises to the travel experience.
