Fu-ren Mountain Trail Introduction
Are you longing for a primitive natural forest adventure? Do you want to plan a lightweight hiking itinerary suitable for both adults and children? The Furen Hiking Trail, located between Yangmei Laozhuang Road and Yangsheng Golf Course, is the perfect destination! This narrow hilly area was originally a military restricted zone and was opened to the public after the lifting of martial law in 1949. Many hikers have paved the trail, gradually making this place a popular walking spot. At the trailhead on Furen Road, there is a large map showing the elevation, along with hiking sticks available for hikers to use. The trail's elevation, except for the ridgeline nearing 600 meters, mostly ranges between 240 to 360 meters, featuring a gentle slope. The outer loop is about 6 kilometers long, connecting the first mountain, the second mountain, and the golf course. There are a total of three vertical paths within the area; the upper path runs close to Yangsheng Golf Course, the lower path near Laozhuang Street, while the middle trails crisscross with several branches, creating a uniform forest cover that makes it feel like walking in a wild maze, which is quite enjoyable. For first-time hikers, it is recommended to take the main trail, either left to right or right to left, with a journey time of about 2 hours. Compared to many hiking trails paved with concrete or stone steps, walking on the dirt paths of the Furen Hiking Trail feels closer to nature. Some steep sections are equipped with ropes, as well as steps made from wooden planks, pebbles, and discarded tires. The trail has preserved the most pristine forest appearance due to years of restricted access; towering trees such as Acacia, camphor, cedar, and oil trees allow hikers to stroll under the lush green canopy, feeling the gentle breeze and breathing in the refreshing air filled with phytoncides. Occasionally, butterflies flutter by and large stag beetles make an appearance, adding surprises to the travel experience.
