Furen Mountain Trail Introduction
Are you yearning for a primitive natural forest adventure? Do you want to plan a lightweight hiking itinerary suitable for both adults and children? The Furen Mountain Trail, located between Laojhuang Road in Yangmei and the Yang Sheng Golf Course, is the best destination! This narrow hilly area was initially a military restricted zone and was opened after martial law was lifted in 1949. Many hikers have opened trails here, gradually making this place a popular walking spot. The trailhead on Furen Road features a large map indicating the elevation, and offers free trekking poles for hikers. The trail's elevation, except for the ridge at nearly 600 meters, mainly ranges between 240 and 360 meters, making it a gentle slope. The total perimeter is about 6 kilometers, connecting the first mountain, the second mountain, and the golf course. There are three vertical sections in the area; the upper line is adjacent to the Yang Sheng Golf Course, while the lower line is near Laojhuang Street, with multiple intersecting paths in between. The forest scenery along the way is relatively homogenous, making it feel like you are walking in a wild maze, which is quite fun. First-time visitors are advised to take the main line, either left to right or right to left, with a journey time of about 2 hours. Unlike many hiking trails with paved concrete steps, walking on the dirt paths of the Furen Mountain Trail brings you closer to nature. Some steep slopes are equipped with ropes, as well as steps made of wooden planks, pebbles, and discarded tires. The trail has retained the most pristine mountain scenery due to years of access control; towering trees such as acacia, camphor, nanmu, and tung provide a lush canopy, allowing hikers to wander under the green shade, feeling the gentle breeze and breathing in the refreshing, pure phytoncides. Occasionally, butterflies flutter and large stag beetles appear, adding surprises to the memories of the journey.
