Furen Mountain Trail Introduction
Are you yearning for a primitive natural mountain forest adventure? Do you want to plan a light walking itinerary suitable for both adults and children? The Furen Hiking Trail, located between Laozhuang Road in Yangmei and the Yangsheng Golf Course, is the perfect destination! This narrow hilly area was originally a military-controlled zone and was opened after martial law was lifted in 1949. Many hikers have developed trails here, gradually making this place a popular walking spot. The trailhead on Furen Road features a large map indicating elevation levels and provides walking sticks for hikers. The elevation of the trail, except for the ridge line which is nearly 600 meters, mostly ranges from 240 to 360 meters, classified as a gentle slope. The entire loop is about 6 kilometers long, linking the first mountain, second mountain, and a golf course along the way. There are three main lines in total: the upper path is close to the Yangsheng Golf Course, while the lower path is near Laozhuang Street, with various junctions in between. The forest scenery remains relatively uniform, giving hikers the feeling of walking through a wild maze, adding a lot of fun to the experience. First-time visitors are recommended to follow the main route, going left and back or right and back, with a trip taking about 2 hours. In contrast to many hiking trails paved with concrete steps, walking on the dirt paths of Furen Hiking Trail brings you closer to nature. Some steep sections have ropes and steps made of wooden boards, pebbles, and discarded tires. Due to years of restricted access, the trail has retained the purest mountain forest appearance; towering Acacia, camphor, mahogany, and tung trees allow hikers to stroll beneath the shade of greenery, feeling the gentle breeze and breathing in the refreshing phytoncides. Occasionally, you may see butterflies dancing or large stag beetles appearing, adding surprise to your travel memories.
