Xiucai Mountain Trail Introduction
For travelers who do not often hike, the Shucai Trail, with its gentle slopes and the ability to easily experience the thrill of climbing and enjoying the scenery, is a must-visit spot. With an elevation of less than 400 meters, the trail offers diverse views along the way, including tea gardens, bald cypress forests, farmland scenery, and up to 50 species of birds. It is even possible to encounter conservation birds such as the Gray-headed Fish Eagle and the Eurasian Sparrowhawk, making the rich natural ecology an added joy to the journey. From the entrance of the China Motor Corporation on Shucai Road in Yangmei, turn left and proceed in the direction of Tiande Hall, where you can connect to the "Fern Shadow Trail," also known as the "Yangmei Ladder," which features a stone stairway with 495 steps leading to the "Green Energy Platform" atop Daping Mountain (Tai Ping Shan)! With a gentle mountain breeze blowing, one can overlook the entire Yangmei urban area, Xinpu urban area, and National Highway No. 1. On clear days, the views extend to the Guanyin Sea, providing a refreshing feeling and dispelling the fatigue from climbing. Continuing westward to the Shucai Pavilion, visitors can see an explanatory board introducing the origins of the local place known as "Shucai Wo." The "Story Corridor" next to the pavilion lists several "Shucai Short Stories," adding cultural flavor to the hiking experience. The two-story Shucai Pavilion is also another popular observation point, especially when the silver grass flowers bloom in abundance, enhancing the fairy-tale atmosphere. Then, passing through the Woodland Platform, Woodland Station, and Shaded Platform, visitors can return to Shucai Road. The section extending east from the Green Energy Platform consists of tea garden, farmland, and waterfront sections, each featuring entrance imagery representing the local characteristics of Yangmei, such as teapots, top scholar cakes, and Shucai dolls—perfect for taking photos to mark the visit! The journey showcases lush tea trees, bald cypress turning red in winter, and ducks leisurely swimming in the ponds, along with the neighboring cherry blossom forest along the Zhaomen Road, adding a special touch to spring walks.
