Wuling National Forest Recreation Area Introduction

Deep within Wuling Farm, the forest song composed of maple reds, pine forests, waterfalls, and the Taiwanese cherry salmon is the most impressive imagery of Wuling National Forest Recreation Area. This is Taiwan's third national forest recreation area, located about a four-hour drive from Taipei at an altitude of approximately 1,800 meters, but the high mountain chill makes it quite cold. The most representative attraction in the area is the Taoshan Waterfall Trail, where the tranquility of the two-leaf pine forests along the way and the rich forest ecology are major features, with Formosan macaques, Mikado pheasants, Taiwan blue magpies, and wine-red long-tailed tits being frequent visitors. At the end of the trail, the majestic and powerful Taoshan Waterfall, releasing abundant negative ions, is breathtaking and heals travelers' souls. On the Wuling Suspension Bridge, visitors can also observe the national treasure fish—the Taiwanese cherry salmon—in the Qijiawan River! The autumn red maple and green maple leaves, along with the spring cherry blossoms, are beautiful seasonal features of Wuling National Forest Recreation Area, making it an unmissable destination when visiting Wuling! In Wuling National Forest Recreation Area, Formosan macaques frequently appear. To reduce human-monkey conflicts, please adhere to the "Four No's" rules: 1. No feeding - Feeding lowers the macaques' wariness of humans, leading them to snatch human food and posing a threat to personal safety. - Feeding alters the macaques' natural behavior and ecology, making conflicts with humans more likely. 2. No touching - Avoid contact with macaques to prevent the transmission of diseases common to humans and monkeys, such as herpes B virus, rabies, and gastrointestinal parasites. - If a macaque jumps on you, do not panic or shout; calmly leave the area, and the macaque will leave on its own. 3. No disturbing or provoking - Do not stare, tease, provoke, or leave children unattended to reduce human-monkey conflicts. 4. No food exposure - Snacks, fruits, drinks, or any pungent-smelling food should be kept in your backpack and not held in hand, and do not make movements that suggest you are opening a bag in front of the macaques to reduce conflicts over food.
