Hsinchu County Historical Museum Introduction
To preserve documents related to the division of Hsinchu County and City, collections from the Hsinchu Prefectural Library during the Japanese colonial period, and other potentially lost historical materials, the Hsinchu County Historical Museum Preparatory Office was established in 1999. It actively sought funding for the construction of the museum from the Hakka Affairs Council, with full support from the Hsinchu County Government. After much effort, construction began in 2005, and the museum officially opened on August 31, 2008. The main functions of the Hsinchu County Historical Museum are to "collect" and "archive" official and civilian historical documents. The architectural concept combines elements of "Hakka roundhouses" and "courtyard design". Inside, the space is divided into six major areas: literature reading, archival center, exhibition space, research and restoration, administrative management, and service space. The Historical Museum serves as the reception hall for Hsinchu County, where visitors can learn about the past, understand the present, and contemplate the future. In addition to becoming a center for local education and a research hub, it collaborates with the Yimin Temple and the Hakka Cultural College of National Tsing Hua University to form a "Hakka cultural triangle" that promotes traditional spirit.
