Hualien: Taiwan Cement DAKA - Open Ecological Circular Factory Introduction

Founded in 1954, TCC transitioned from a public to a private entity. In 1962, it was the first to respond to the government's "capital securitization" policy, publicly listing its shares under code 1101, becoming the first company in the securities market to go public. This means TCC has taken on the important duty of managing the industry and serving the interests of the country and society. Over the past sixty years, TCC has grown alongside Taiwan, participating in fundamental and significant economic construction, and witnessing the miracle of Taiwan's society and economy, a testament to the "Taiwan experience." In November 2017, TCC Chairman Chang An-Ping elaborated on the transformation and upgrade blueprint of the TCC corporate group, positioning TCC as a "green environmental engineering company focused on the complex relationship between human civilization and nature." TCC is not merely a cement manufacturing and sales company but also an eco-solution provider proactively addressing environmental issues, leveraging innovative technology and thinking, developing new energy, and moving towards the goals of "zero waste, zero pollution, and zero emissions." In the future, TCC will leverage group strengths to promote a circular economy and co-create new sustainable values for the enterprise. The TCC DAKA Open Ecological Circular Factory, located within the cement plant in Hualien County's Xiulin Township, He Ping Village, serves as an ecological knowledge attraction in northern Hualien. "DAKA" means "to observe" in the Taroko language, symbolizing TCC's desire to gaze toward a better future together with the surrounding tribal communities. The TCC DAKA Open Ecological Circular Factory is the world's first circular economy factory that integrates a cement plant, a thermal power plant, and an industrial port. By opening its doors, TCC allows the public to glimpse the circular economy of the "port-power plant integration" that has operated in the He Ping Industrial Zone for twenty years, while also fostering ecological communities that combine the factory with local communities and enhancing communication between the factory and society. TCC DAKA offers diverse tours and hands-on cement-making activities (reservation required), and the first phase of the open area welcomes public visits. Visitors to the Vision Hall can learn about TCC's circular economy, cement production processes, ecological restoration, and local creation efforts. At the entrance of the park is East Asia's first large outdoor solar art installation - the Peace Flower (smartflower). In the center of the park, there's a design based on the infinite loop symbol with a musical fountain that recycles water, signaling the hour; there are also the best plant conservation classroom in Eastern Taiwan, the world's only botanical garden dedicated to the Bromeliad family - the Hundred Phoenix Garden, and the DAKA Market managed by local villagers, showcasing tribal characteristics. Notably, TCC operates the DAKA without profit; fees from tour participation, stall usage fees at the DAKA Market, and a fixed percentage of monthly revenue from shops within the park are all contributed to the educational fund of Ping Guo Elementary School, working together for local creation.
