Heren Beach Introduction
The 2-kilometer-long Heren Beach is located in the northern part of Xiulin Township, Hualien County. The Heren area is near the shorter length of the Liangli Creek, with steep slopes upstream causing gravel to be rapidly washed down to the river mouth, forming the gravel beach landscape seen today. The entrance to the Heren Trail is located next to the Heren Boundary Stone in the national park along the Suhua Highway (the trail and its entrance are currently damaged due to a storm). The trail is approximately 165 meters long, and after walking through a small stretch of woodland from the trail, you can reach Heren Beach. The first thing that catches the eye is the various sizes of stones on the beach, which have rolled down to the sea due to landslides from the cliffs. The northern side of Heren Creek washes down fragments of marble and gneiss, which, over the years, have been carried ashore by the waves to form a clean and polished gravel beach.
