Tianzhong Kiln Creative Park is located in Tianzhong Town, southeast of Changhua County. The area is flat with fertile soil and convenient irrigation, historically renowned for its rice cultivation and known as the "Granary." Since 1994, community development has driven the integration of residents and artisans with agriculture, craftsmanship, and tourism, gradually transforming it into an innovative town. In 1992, Yeh Chih-Cheng, head of the Taiwan Craft Home and an intangible cultural asset preservationist, renamed "Taosheng Ceramics" to "Tianzhong Kiln," transitioning from practical ceramics production to wood-fired art under the name "Jiuyih Ceramics Co., Ltd." This established a complex park suitable for families and multiple generations. The park not only demonstrates wood-firing techniques and provides ceramic art experiences but also collaborates with local schools and communities to promote one-day apprenticeship and outdoor education, facilitating a cultural tourism cycle characterized by "one village, one feature." With the rise of cultural and creative industries and local revitalization initiatives in 2002, Tianzhong Kiln actively marketed itself through domestic and international exhibitions, integrating local agricultural tourism to build the "Tianzhong Kiln Creative Park" brand. Covering approximately six thousand square meters, the annual "Tianzhong Marathon" is a highlight, where participants receive trophies designed by Yeh Chih-Cheng featuring agricultural imagery, enhancing the prominence of the "Hometown of Rice." The park is situated in the Sanmin Community, where both parties collaborated to create the "Kiln Cat Community," inspired by the legend of cats driving away rats, using colorful ceramics, reliefs, and three-dimensional installations to create vibrant and story-rich alley landscapes. A landmark in the Sanmin Community, the "Husband and Wife Trees," are two century-old banyan trees standing just a few dozen meters apart, resembling watchful companions. The surrounding area has been planned as a leisure park, complemented by ecological ponds and ceramic installations, allowing visitors to connect with nature. Each spring, Tianzhong Kiln hosts the "Flower Sea Art Season," featuring vast blooms of hollyhocks, along with creative craft markets and musical performances for families, embodying a unique rural romantic atmosphere. The park's biggest highlight is the wood-fired kiln built from tens of thousands of refractory bricks, which requires long hours of burning wood; ash covers the body of ceramics, forming a natural ash glaze that showcases a warm and rugged beauty. In addition to creating everyday items like teapots and cups, the park extends wood-firing techniques to large-scale landscapes and public art. Upholding the five aspects of "people, culture, land, products, and scenery," Tianzhong Kiln utilizes three main strategies of "talent cultivation," "product creation," and "landscape development" to elevate ceramic art as the core of local emotions and aesthetics. Visitors to Tianzhong Town can engage in a variety of activities such as pottery throwing, clay sculpting, mud dyeing, and wood-firing, stroll through the colorful alleys of Cat Village, taste local rice dishes, or linger in the vibrant hollyhocks during the Flower Sea Art Season. The Tianzhong Marathon and local markets also exude a rich communal charm. From the kilns to the rice waves, Tianzhong Kiln accumulates not just the energy of a personal brand but also revitalizes the culture and industries of the entire rural town.
