Yue Mei Suspension Bridge Introduction
The Yue Mei Suspension Bridge, located in the Little Copper Ring of Tongjing Village in Sanwan Township, was built in 1929. It originally served as a necessary route connecting Nanzhuang and Sanwan to Toufen. The bridge features a steel beam structure, with a width of 4 meters and a length of approximately 150 meters. It also had a track for manual carts used for transporting coal. At that time, it was a crucial transportation route for people on both sides of the river. After the completion of the Xihe Reservoir and the Emei Bridge in 1951, the Yue Mei Suspension Bridge was retired, with only the bridgehead pillars on both sides still standing. Later, a small steel bridge was built at the bridgeheads, supported by cables and the old piers, extending out with a transparent glass floor that became a viewing platform for enjoying the riverside scenery. Standing on the bridge, one can admire the natural views of the river, and through the glass floor, see the Emei River flowing beneath, occasionally watched by white egrets flying overhead, creating a serene scene that brings peace to the mind and body.
