Yue-mei Suspension Bridge Introduction
The Yue Mei Suspension Bridge, located in the Xiaotongluoqiu area of Tongjing Village in Sanwan Township, was built in 1929. It originally served as a crucial route connecting Nanzhuang and Sanwan to Toufen. The bridge, with a steel beam structure, is 4 meters wide and approximately 150 meters long, and it features tracks for manual carts used for coal transportation. At that time, it was an essential thoroughfare for transportation between the two banks. In 1951, with the completion of the Xihe Reservoir and the above Emei Bridge, the Yue Mei Suspension Bridge was retired from service, leaving only its bridgeheads and pillars standing on both sides. Later, a small steel bridge section was constructed on the bridgehead, supported by stays and the old piers, extending into a transparent glass bridge surface that serves as a viewing platform to overlook the riverside scenery. Standing on the bridge, visitors can enjoy the natural landscape of the river ahead and behind, and through the glass surface, they can see the gently flowing Emei Creek below, occasionally graced by the flight of white herons, creating a serene and refreshing experience.
