Yuemei Suspension Bridge Introduction
The Yue Mei Suspension Bridge, located in Tongjing Village, Sanwan Township, was built in 1929. It originally served as a crucial route connecting Nanzhuang and Sanwan to Toufen. The steel-beam bridge has a width of 4 meters and a length of approximately 150 meters, with tracks laid for manpower carts used for coal transportation. At that time, it was a vital transport corridor for crossing both sides. After the completion of the Xihe Reservoir and the Emei Bridge in 1951, the Yue Mei Suspension Bridge became redundant, leaving only its bridgehead columns still standing on both sides. Later, a small steel bridge section was constructed at the bridgehead, supported by rods and the old bridge piers, extending out with a transparent glass deck, creating a viewing platform to overlook the riverside scenery. Standing on the bridge, visitors can enjoy the natural landscapes of the riverfront, and the glass bridge allows them to see the gently flowing Emei Creek below, occasionally graced by the flight of white herons, creating a tranquil scene that is soothing for the mind and body.
