Yue Mei Suspension Bridge Introduction

The Yue Mei Suspension Bridge, located in Tongjing Village, Sanwan Township, was built in 1929 and originally served as a vital route connecting Nanzhuang and Sanwan to Toufen. The bridge, with a steel beam structure, is 4 meters wide and approximately 150 meters long, featuring a track for manpower carts used for transporting coal. At that time, it was a major thoroughfare for transportation across the river. After the completion of the Xihe Reservoir and the nearby Emei Bridge in 1951, the Yue Mei Suspension Bridge was retired, leaving only the bridgehead columns standing on both sides. Later, a short section of steel bridge was constructed at the bridgehead, supported by a strut and the old bridge piers, extending out into a transparent glass bridge deck, which has become a viewing platform to overlook the riverside scenery. Standing on the bridge, visitors can enjoy the natural landscape of the river both upstream and downstream, and through the glass deck, they can see the Emei Creek flowing beneath, occasionally witnessing white egrets flying by, creating a serene and refreshing scene.
