Yuemei Suspension Bridge Introduction
The Yuemei Suspension Bridge, located in Tongjing Village, Sanwan Township, was built in 1929. It originally served as the main route between Nanzhuang and Sanwan to Toufen. The steel-beamed bridge has a width of 4 meters and is approximately 150 meters long. A cart track for transporting coal was laid on top of the bridge, making it a crucial transportation artery for crossing the river. After the completion of the Xihe Reservoir and the Emei Bridge in 1951, the Yuemei Suspension Bridge became obsolete, leaving only its bridge heads and pillars standing. Later, a short section of steel bridge was constructed at the bridge heads, supported by tie rods and the old piers, with a transparent glass bridge deck extending outwards, transforming it into a viewing platform where one can enjoy the scenery of the riverbanks. Standing on the bridge allows visitors to admire the natural landscape of the river both upstream and downstream. Through the glass bridge deck, one can see the flowing Emei River beneath, with occasional white egrets soaring by, creating a tranquil scene that brings relaxation and peace.
