Cloud Gate Theater Introduction
The internationally renowned Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan was affected by a relentless fire in 2008, which burned down its original rehearsal space, a corrugated metal building rented in Bali. Later, through cooperation with the New Taipei City government, a new Cloud Gate Theater was built at the former site of the Central Radio Station in Tamsui, integrating the existing architecture. It officially opened on April 24, 2015. Located between Tamsui Golf Course and Huwei Fort, the Cloud Gate Theater offers a view of Guanyin Mountain and the mouth of the Tamsui River. The building, featuring light green glass curtains, reflects the surrounding tall trees and blends into the serene green landscape. The theater regularly hosts publicly ticketed performances, which can be checked online, and there are also regular guided tours of the park that can be reserved by phone in advance. Additionally, the park features many art installations, including internationally acclaimed works from sculptor Ju Ming, such as the "Homeland Series," "Tai Chi Series," and "Human Series." The large tree study within the park combines a bookstore and café where visitors can enjoy carefully selected Cloud Gate books and exclusive cultural and creative products reflecting the dancers' lifestyle. Visitors can also taste the signature hand-brewed coffee and exclusive sun-dried beer. The Flower Language Restaurant by the lotus pond offers the best xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) and exquisite new tea creations, including the world-famous oolong pearl milk tea, waiting for you to savor. The main building of the Cloud Gate Theater is beautifully designed, with light green glass curtains reflecting the surrounding trees. It is not only aesthetically pleasing but also emphasizes environmental protection and energy efficiency. When taking photos, it is recommended to capture the glass with its green glow alongside the blue sky.
