National Theater and Concert Hall Introduction
The internationally renowned Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan faced a devastating fire in 2008 that destroyed its rehearsal space, a metal building rented in Bali. Subsequently, in collaboration with the New Taipei City Government, a new Cloud Gate Theater was constructed at the old site of the Central Broadcasting Station Tamsui Branch, integrating the existing architecture. The theater officially opened on April 24, 2015. Located between the Tamsui Golf Course and Fort Huwei, the Cloud Gate Theater offers a stunning view of Guanyin Mountain and the Tamsui River estuary. The building, with its light green glass curtain, reflects the tall surrounding trees, blending harmoniously into the tranquil green landscape. The theater regularly hosts publicly ticketed performances, which can be checked online. Additionally, guided tours of the park are available by phone reservation. The park also features numerous art installations, including internationally acclaimed works such as Ju Ming's "Taiwan Series," "Tai Chi Series," and "Human Series." Furthermore, the Big Tree Bookstore offers a unique space combining a bookstore and café, where visitors can explore carefully selected Cloud Gate publications and exclusive cultural and creative products inspired by the dancers’ lifestyles. Guests can also enjoy hand-brewed coffee and specially crafted sunlight beer. The Huayu Restaurant by the lotus pond serves delicious soup dumplings, innovative tea creations, and the world-famous oolong pearl milk tea, waiting for you to savor. The main building of the Cloud Gate Theater is beautifully designed, with the light green glass curtain reflecting the surrounding tall trees. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it emphasizes sustainability. When taking photos, it's recommended to include the green-tinged glass alongside the blue sky in the frame.
