Yuemun Theatre Introduction
The internationally renowned Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan faced a significant setback in 2008 when a devastating fire destroyed its rehearsal space, a metal structure it had rented in Bali. Subsequently, through collaboration with the New Taipei City Government, a new theater was constructed at the old site of the Central Broadcasting Station in Tamsui, integrating the existing architecture. The theater officially opened for performances on April 24, 2015. Located between the Tamsui Golf Course and the Huwei Fort, the Cloud Gate Theater offers a scenic view of Guanyin Mountain and the Tamsui River estuary. The structure, with its light green glass facade, reflects the surrounding tall trees, blending into the serene green landscape. The theater regularly organizes publicly ticketed performances that can be checked online, and there are also guided tours of the grounds available for phone reservation. Additionally, there are many art installations in the area, including internationally acclaimed works from sculptor Ju Ming, such as the "Hometown Series," "Tai Chi Series," and "Human Series." The "Big Tree's Study" within the park combines a bookstore and café, allowing visitors to explore carefully selected Cloud Gate publications and exclusive cultural and creative products inspired by the lifestyle of dancers. Visitors can also enjoy hand-brewed coffee and a unique sun-brewed beer. Beside the lotus pond, the Flower Language Restaurant serves the tastiest xiaolongbao, exquisite new tea creations, and the world's number one oolong bubble tea, waiting for you to savor. The main building of the Cloud Gate Theater is stunning, with its light green glass facade reflecting the surrounding trees, providing a stylish yet environmentally friendly and energy-saving design. It is recommended to include the green-tinted glass and the blue sky in photographs.
