Qianfo Mountain Bodhi Temple Introduction
Qianfo Mountain Bodhi Temple is located between the mountains of Guanming. Qianfo Mountain was formerly known as Datan Mountain or Xiangyang Mountain. In the early days, the area was sparsely populated with tombs everywhere, and it was not until the construction of the temple that the situation improved. In front of the temple, there is a large pond that reflects the entire temple, enhancing its grandeur. At the summit stands the tallest statue of Shakyamuni Buddha in Taiwan, which is 8.4 meters high, as well as the first Diamond Sutra Stupa in Taiwan. The lotus seat of the statue features the only secret altar in Taiwan, embedded with nine hundred and ninety-nine Shakyamuni Buddha statues. This is how Qianfo Mountain got its name and further symbolizes the spirit of Bodhi.
