Meishan Visitor Center Introduction
Meishan Visitor Center is located beside National Highway 20, at the northernmost mountainous area of Taoyuan District, and serves as the gateway to the Yushan National Park management area. It is the only service station on the Southern Cross-Island Highway. Nearby, there are the Meishan Sales Center and a camping area that provide food and relaxation for visitors. The exterior of the visitor center is constructed with Beinan tribal stone slabs, harmoniously blending with the surrounding scenery. Inside, there are exhibits related to the Formosan black bear, including information and commemorative stamps featuring the bear's footprints, allowing visitors to learn more about Taiwan's natural ecology while resting. Visitors can also take a stroll to the nearby Bunun Cultural Exhibition Center, which offers rich and engaging exhibitions that delve into Bunun history, traditional rituals, and cultural stories. In front of the visitor center, there is an ecological garden featuring native plants and pathways. The ecological garden has informative boards to help travelers understand Taiwan's indigenous species and folk plants. Every January, the beautiful white plums bloom profusely, making it a great place for winter plum viewing. In the vicinity of Meishan, there are two suspension bridges, multiple hiking trails, and natural scenic spots such as Tianchi, Cypresses Valley, and Meilan Forest Road. The abundant flora and fauna along the trail, coupled with vast views, attract countless travelers. Hiking among the majestic mountains, birdwatching, or enjoying the sea of clouds rushing through the valleys are all supreme pleasures of life. During the winter plum blossom season, the mountains are covered with blooming plum flowers, resembling a sea of snow, and the romantic fragrance immerses visitors in a picturesque paradise that makes them reluctant to leave.
