Taiwan Craft Workshop - Pottery Garden Introduction
Hsu Tsung-huan was born in 1965 in Dacun, Changhua. He creates ceramic art that conveys not only the functionality of pottery but also many inner ideas and thoughts expressed through his works. His hand-built ceramic pieces are unique and full of the rustic charm of traditional Taiwanese rural life, reflecting childhood memories. Elements such as the coastal casuarinas, the peanuts grown in abundance, frogs in the ditches, and fallen dead wood by the roadside are vividly integrated into his ceramic creations. In 2003, he won the Huanxi Award in the three-dimensional category at the Fourth Huanxi Fine Arts Exhibition, in 2007 he received certification from the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute as "Taiwan Craft Home," in 2011 he was selected as one of Changhua County's 100 Outstanding People, in 2012 he won the Bronze Award at the Fourth Ceramic Gold Pot Award, and in 2014 he was awarded the "17th Global Life Love Medal" by the Chou Ta-Kuan Foundation. The陶園 (Ceramic Workshop) was established in the 1980s, providing a space in this rural area to appreciate, play with pottery, enjoy tea, and pass on craftsmanship. Through the modeling of clay, it conveys a sense of connection to the earth, adding warmth to the pottery beyond its utility and playfulness.
