Hukou Wetlands Introduction
This wetland grassland ecological area, located on the section of Hukou Village Road in Kouhu Township, Yunlin County, was originally a farm operated by Taiwan Sugar Corporation. After being hit by Typhoon Wayne in 1986, the saltwater intrusion made it impossible to continue cultivating the originally planted sugarcane over large areas. After years of abandonment, nature has transformed the land into a paradise for wild plants under harsh conditions, without any artificial modifications or cultivation. This area, combined with the wetland leisure park planned by the local government, has also formed a unique rural character.
