Shuzi Jiao Catholic Church Introduction
The first Catholic church in Yunlin County, the Zhuzi Jiao Church, is located on the southern bank of the Zhuoshui River. During the Guangxu period, the faithful of the Zhuzi Jiao settlement invited Father Ko Si-lung from the Luocuo Church to preach here, renting a simple bamboo hut as a temporary place of worship, marking the beginning of the church's establishment and the spread of Catholicism in Yunlin County. The Zhuzi Jiao Church was the first Catholic church in the county, built during the Qing Dynasty's Guangxu period, and was converted to a brick structure in the 19th year of the Republic. Its octagonal roof possesses a unique style. Photo 1: Zhuzi Jiao Church, Photographer: Hsieh Ying-chi. (Authorized photo, please do not reprint)
