Yongkang Street District Introduction
Yongkang Street is a famous food street located on Section 2 of Xinyi Road in the Da’an District of Taipei, Taiwan. It runs roughly north-south, situated between Jingshan South Road and Xinsheng South Road, starting from Xinyi Road in the north to Heping East Road in the south. The section north of the intersection with Aiguo East Road is a two-way single lane, while the section to the south is a one-way street. It is well-known for its numerous famous restaurants and snack shops nestled within the alleys. Yongkang Street is regarded as the birthplace of Taipei's alley culture and is a hub of culinary delights for tourists. Initially famous for traditional foods, such as Din Tai Fung's soup dumplings and Hsiu-Lan Bistro, it also features returning restaurants that have been in business for over 20 years, representing the trend of healthy eating. These venues combine the characteristics of teahouses and vegetarian restaurants, showcasing dazzling decor and classical music in a relaxing atmosphere. Additionally, there are several favorite gathering spots for literary figures, including Yitang Teahouse, which emphasizes authentic Taiwanese tea culture, as well as various cafes and teahouses around the Kangqinglong area. The owners of these small shops have unique business models that allow them to engage with people and share the cultural aesthetics cultivated in their lives. The Yongkang Street commercial area is centered around Yongkang Park and encompasses Yongkang Street, Lishui Street, parts of Jinhua Street, and shops nearby on Xinyi Road. Originally, the area gathered many Taiwanese snacks and restaurants, and it has gradually introduced numerous international cuisine restaurants, uniquely styled cafes, and boutique shops. Due to its proximity to Da’an Forest Park and the abundance of famous food, it often attracts large crowds during the evenings and on holidays.
