Yongkang Street Introduction
Yongkang Street is a famous food street located on Section 2, Xinyi Road in the Da'an District of Taipei, Taiwan. It runs roughly north-south, between Jinshan South Road and Xinsheng South Road, starting from Xinyi Road in the north and extending to Heping East Road in the south. The area north of the intersection with Aiguo East Road is a one-way street, while the south side is a two-way street. It is well-known for the many renowned restaurants and food stalls nestled within the alleys. Yongkang Street is considered the birthplace of alley culture in Taipei and is a culinary hotspot for tourists. Originally famous for traditional cuisine, such as Din Tai Fung's soup dumplings and Hsiu-Lan Restaurant, the area now features long-established restaurants that represent the healthy eating trend, combining elements of tea shops and vegetarian restaurants, with dazzling indoor decor and classical music creating a relaxing atmosphere. Additionally, there are numerous gathering spots favored by intellectuals, including the Yitang Tea House, which emphasizes authentic Taiwanese tea culture, as well as cafes and tea houses in the Kangqinglong area today. The owners of these small shops have unique business models and enjoy sharing discussions about life and the artistic culture they have cultivated. The Yongkang Street business district is centered around Yongkang Park, encompassing Yongkang Street, Lishui Street, parts of Jinhua Street, and nearby shops on Xinyi Road. Initially, the district gathered many Taiwan street food vendors and restaurants but has gradually opened many international cuisine restaurants, unique-style cafes, and boutique stores. Due to its proximity to Daan Forest Park and its many famous dining options, it often attracts crowds in the evenings and on weekends.
