Yongkang Street District Introduction
Yongkang Street is a famous food street located on Section 2 of Xinyi Road in the Da'an District of Taipei, Taiwan. It runs roughly north-south between Jinshan South Road and Xinsen South Road, starting from Xinyi Road in the north to Heping East Road in the south. The section north of Aiguo East Road is a two-way single lane, while the south is a one-way street. It is well-known for its many renowned restaurants and snack shops tucked away in the alleys. Yongkang Street is considered the birthplace of Taipei's alley culture and is a culinary hub for tourists, initially famous for traditional eats such as Din Tai Fung's soup dumplings and Hsiulan Restaurant. The longstanding restaurants, established for over 20 years, represent a healthy dining trend, combining the features of tea houses and vegetarian restaurants, with dazzling decor indoors and classical music playing, creating a leisurely atmosphere. Additionally, it houses many gathering places favored by literati, including the Yitang Tea House, which focuses on authentic Taiwanese tea culture, as well as cafés and tea houses in the Kangqinglong area. The small shop owners in these alleys have a unique business model and are eager to engage in conversations to share the aesthetic of life they cultivate. The Yongkang Street business district centers around Yongkang Park, encompassing Yongkang Street, Lishui Street, parts of Jinhua Street, and the shops near Xinyi Road. The area originally gathered many Taiwanese snack shops and restaurants but has gradually added numerous international cuisine restaurants, unique cafés, and boutique shops. Due to its proximity to Da'an Forest Park and its many famous food options, it often attracts large crowds in the evenings or on holidays.
