Lishan Village Introduction
Lishan Village is located at an altitude of 1,800 meters in the Tsaotun area of Taichung City, and is the most remote village in the city. It is named after the abundant production of premium temperate fruits, such as pears and apples. Raka was the earliest name for Lishan, which was renamed Taoyuan after the end of Japanese rule; it was also the predecessor name of Slamaw (Lishan). After the completion of the Central Cross-Island Highway in 1960, farms introduced water pears and promoted the large-scale cultivation of apples, leading to the name change to Lishan due to the fame of the water pears.
