Bamboo and Cypress Path Introduction
Located in the Wenshan District of Taipei City, aside from the famous Zhinan Temple, there is a low-key yet captivating trail called "Bamboo Cypress Trail." This path is surrounded by a forest of bamboo cypress, providing a lush canopy overhead and a tranquil environment, making it not only a great choice for hiking but also a peaceful retreat away from the urban bustle. The name "Bamboo Cypress Trail" comes from the densely growing "bamboo cypress" on both sides, a type of evergreen tree whose long, slender leaves resemble bamboo but possess characteristics of cypress, hence its name. The swaying shadows of the trees create a scene that remains evergreen throughout the seasons, adding a poetic and serene atmosphere to the trail, whether under the morning sunlight or enveloped in mist after rain. Along the way, visitors can see some historical relics, such as stone lanterns and ancient stone pavilions, which bear witness to the changes this path has undergone over the past century. The trail is well-paved with a moderate slope, making it suitable for visitors of all ages to walk. There are several resting platforms along the mid-section of the trail where guests can take a short break and quietly enjoy the sounds of insects and birds in the mountains. Night lighting is installed on both sides of the path, using soft, natural lighting to create a tranquil and Zen-like ambiance, ensuring safety while enhancing the visual appeal, making nighttime walks more immersive and ritualistic. The Bamboo Cypress Trail is suitable for visits year-round; in summer, the thick shade protects from the intense sun, while in winter, biting cold winds are rarely encountered. There are no commercial establishments along the trail, so it is recommended to carry sufficient water and light snacks. If planning for a long-distance hike, one may combine it with a visit to Zhinan Temple or a teahouse in Maokong as a final destination to enjoy local teas and snacks, perfectly concluding the journey.
