~Signature Shaved Ice~ Inheritance ~A Good Taste for Nearly Half a Century~ ~Memories~ Are Not Just Visual Longing~ But Also a Sensation for the Taste Buds~ "Xitou Ice City" is the first ice shop established on Xinshi Street. Why is it called "Xitou"? It turns out that the busy and bustling Zhongxing Road, which runs through Xinshi Street, was the most lively street in Xinshi. The locals would refer to the eastern part as "Dongtou" and the western part as "Xitou." The illiterate owner did not understand the aesthetics of shop signs, and since the ice shop was located in the western section, he simply named it "Xitou Ice City." The founder, Pan Dajian (born in 1933), is tall and big, and everyone calls him "Da Ren." Coming from a poor family, he used to ride his bicycle to the mountains to bring back bananas, sweet potatoes, and other grains to sell, or peddle ice pops and taro ice everywhere, trading them for sweet potatoes to dry and eat. After marriage with his wife Pan Chen (born in 1933), they raised four children. As the kids grew, the burden of living expenses and tuition fees became increasingly heavy, prompting him to seek self-employment.
