Zentou Village Military History Park Introduction
For military enthusiasts, don't miss the gathering of retired weapons from land, sea, and air! Located in the wetland ecologically renowned Tsengtou in Dayuan District, retired military equipment such as a naval destroyer, landing vehicle, and F5E fighter jet "Chung Cheng" silently appear under the elevated bridge of Provincial Highway 61. If you want to experience the coolness of being a pilot or meet the "battlefield heroes" up close, take a trip to the Military History Park in Tsengtou to satisfy your military cravings! Each piece of military equipment on display is filled with stories; the F5E fighter jet, which plays a crucial role in defending peace across the Taiwan Strait, is a military aircraft co-produced by Taiwan and the United States and was named "Chung Cheng" in celebration of President Chiang Chung-cheng's 88th birthday. Keen-eyed military fans will quickly notice this fighter jet also appeared in the movie "Top Gun." Standing before the 3-meter-high military aircraft, imagining tense and thrilling aerial battles from the movie is part of the travel joy. Also manufactured in the United States is the M48A3 medium tank, which was the main force of the military's off-road combat in the 1980s. Nearby, the sea anchor and the propeller blade are components of the "Lucky Ship," the Cheng Yang, which survived a kamikaze attack without sinking, earning its lucky title; it's rumored that captains serving on Cheng Yang had greatly enhanced opportunities for promotion to general. Additionally, the LVT.P5-A1 landing vehicle, which experienced the Bombardment of Kinmen, and the 5-inch 38-caliber single gun from an aircraft carrier bring you into the shocking history of war. Besides the spectacular retired military equipment, the park also keeps stone lions and dragon columns specially preserved during the renovation of the Renshou Palace in Dayuan, as well as planned children's playgrounds, health pathways, and simple fitness equipment, along with unique murals of scenery and cartoons on bridge pillars, forming a comfortable resting environment.
