Zhen Tou Li Military History Park Introduction
For military enthusiasts, don't miss the gathering of retired weapons from land, sea, and air! In the wetland ecosystem-renowned Zhutou area of Dayuan District, retired military equipment such as naval destroyers, landing craft, and the F5E fighter jet "Zhongzheng" make a quiet appearance under the elevated bridge of the Tai61 Line West Coast Expressway. If you want to experience the thrills of being a pilot or have a close encounter with "battlefield heroes," take a stroll through the Zhutou Military History Park to satisfy your military cravings! Every military equipment displayed in the park is filled with stories; the F5E fighter jet, which plays a vital role in defending peace across the Taiwan Strait, is a jointly produced aircraft by Taiwan and the United States, named in honor of President Chiang Chung-cheng's 88th birthday. Sharp-eyed military fans may also notice that this type of fighter jet appeared in the movie "Top Gun." Standing in front of the 3-meter-high aircraft, imagining the tense aerial battles in the film is part of the travel experience. Also manufactured in the United States is the M48A3 medium tank, which was the mainstay of the National Army's off-road combat in the 1980s. Nearby, the sea anchor and propeller blades are remnants of the Qiang Yang, a ship that survived a kamikaze attack but did not sink, earning it the title "lucky ship." It is rumored that captains who served on the Qiang Yang significantly increased their chances of being promoted to generals. The LVT.P5-A1 landing craft, which experienced the 823 Artillery Battle, and a 5-inch/38-caliber naval gun are also present, taking you deep into the shocking history of war. In addition to the spectacular retired military equipment, the park also houses stone lions and dragon pillars specially preserved during the renovation of the Ren Shou Gong in Dayuan. The park features children's playgrounds, health trails, simple fitness equipment, and artistic murals of scenery and cartoons on the bridge columns, creating a comfortable resting environment.
