Taoyuan: YG Umbrella Cultural Creative Park Introduction
【Evaluation Validity Period: 2025/10/30~2028/10/29】 Kinsan Umbrella Co., Ltd. was established in 1984 in Taoyuan City, initially focusing on manufacturing affordable umbrellas. During the peak production period of the domestic umbrella industry, in response to the high demand for orders, the company moved to China where labor costs were lower. In 1988, a factory was established in Xingning City, Guangdong Province, and in 1991, it was relocated to Longgang District, Shenzhen. However, the headquarters has always remained in Taiwan. After 1990, the company gradually shifted its focus to exports, and in 1992, it transformed into an OEM manufacturer, turning ordinary umbrellas into "artworks." By embracing research and innovation and insisting on quality, it began producing high-end ladies' umbrellas for internationally renowned luxury brands such as LV, HERMES, GUCCI, Burberry, FENDI, and Yves Saint Laurent (YSL). In 2009, the company transitioned into an OBM manufacturer and created its own brand, P+5, and later introduced advanced coatings from Germany's DuPont to manufacture top-quality umbrellas with a UV block rate of 99.99%. In 2014, Kinsan Umbrella moved all of its factories back to Taiwan to enhance the "Made in Taiwan" brand image and in response to the "Salmon Return" initiative, Chairman Lee Ming-Chih relocated all factories from mainland China back to Taiwan. In 2016, a factory was established in the Taoyuan Daya Industrial Park with an investment of NT$300 million to create the "Kinsan Umbrella Cultural and Creative Park," which ventured into the cultural and creative industry and successfully transformed traditional industries, becoming a model for upgrading and transformation. The Kinsan Umbrella Cultural and Creative Park is located in Daya District, Taoyuan City. With a focus on "cross-border innovation, occupational experience, and environmental aesthetics," it combines humanistic, artistic, and fashion experiences to create a low-carbon park certified with a silver-level green building label, promoting environmental education. The park features Taiwan's first rainwater recycling and reuse "Rain Experience Corridor," where visitors can personally feel different intensities of rainfall with umbrellas, experiencing four stages from heavy rain to extreme torrential rain. The park emphasizes "cross-border innovation, occupational experience, and environmental aesthetics," integrating diverse experiences in a low-carbon cultural and creative park. The unique avant-garde architectural style of the "irregular umbrellas" achieves energy efficiency and is certified as a silver-level green building. Inside the park, various exquisite umbrellas produced over the years, along with umbrella-making artifacts and industrial trajectories, are displayed, recording the rise and fall of the umbrella industry.
