Dong'an Bridge, Guanxi Introduction
The Dong'an Bridge, spanning the Niulan River, is a five-arch stone bridge that combines structure and aesthetics. Formerly known as "Cai Feng Bridge," it was built in 1933 (Showa 8) and serves as a crucial route connecting the Kuanxi district and Dong'an Village. The Dong'an Bridge was originally a wooden temporary bridge that was washed away during mountain floods, disrupting transportation. Local residents advocated for the construction of a new bridge, and a local gentleman hired a Japanese engineer for the design. Laborers were then employed to gather finely textured stones from the Jinshan area and transport them manually to the site, where a renowned local stonemason, Li Zhen, led the construction. After decades of use, the bridge remains intact, showcasing the remarkable engineering skills and high quality of the construction.
