Dong'an Bridge, Kuanxi Introduction
The Dong'an Bridge, spanning the Niu Lan River, is a five-arch stone arch bridge that combines structure and aesthetics. Originally known as "Cai Feng Bridge," it was built in 1933 (Showa 8) and serves as a vital link between the Kuanxi district and Dong'an Li. The Dong'an Bridge was initially a wooden temporary bridge, which was often destroyed by mountain floods, disrupting transportation. Local residents advocated for the construction of a bridge, hiring a Japanese engineer to design it and employing workers to gather finely textured stones from the Jinshan area, which were transported to the site by hand. The construction was led by the renowned local stonemason Li Zhen. After decades of use, the bridge remains intact, demonstrating the high level of engineering skill and quality involved in its construction.
