Dong'an Bridge, Kuanxi Introduction
Dong'an Bridge, spanning the Niulan River, is a five-arch stone arch bridge that combines structural functionality with aesthetic appeal. Historically known as "Cai Feng Bridge," it was constructed in 1933 (Shōwa 8) and serves as a vital route connecting the Kuanxi District and Dong'an Village. Originally a wooden footbridge, it was frequently washed away by mountain floods, disrupting transportation. Local residents advocated for the bridge's construction, hiring a Japanese engineer for the design. Laborers were then commissioned to gather intricately textured stones from the Jinshan area, which were transported to the site manually. Renowned local stonemason Li Zhen led the construction, and the bridge remains intact even after decades of use, showcasing the superb engineering skills and quality of construction.
