Gaodao Traversing Introduction
The Gaoshan Traverse, a classic intermediate mountain trail surrounded by cypress trees, is located in the Jianshi Township of Hsinchu. This popular intermediate hiking path connects Gaotai Mountain, Xiaodaitian Mountain, Zhongdaitian Mountain, and Dadaitian Mountain. The elevation ranges from 1,061 to 1,831 meters, with a one-way distance of approximately 4.5 kilometers, taking about 6 to 7 hours round trip, making it a favorite among hiking enthusiasts. The trail begins at the Naluo tribe, and the first trailhead is the most commonly used. Although it starts with a continuous steep incline challenge, the upright cypress forests along the way provide a soothing atmosphere with phytoncides, enhancing the healing effect of the strenuous climb. It takes about an hour to reach the first mountain peak, Gaotai Mountain, where a flat platform at the summit serves as an excellent resting spot. Continuing for about two hours leads you to the Gaoshan Viewing Platform, which offers a broad view of the Jianshi tribal area and the majestic Naluo mountains, making it one of the highlights of this route. Whether pursuing physical challenges or seeking tranquility in the mountains, the Gaoshan Traverse is a classic choice not to be missed.
