Cheng Feng-Hsi Memorial Library Introduction

The Zheng Feng-Hsi Memorial Library was established by Mr. Zheng Feng-Hsi during his lifetime out of concern for the lack of library facilities in rural areas. Unfortunately, he passed away from liver cancer before fulfilling his aspiration. His wife, Ms. Wu Chi-Chao, worked hard to realize her husband's dream by establishing the Zheng Feng-Hsi Cultural and Educational Foundation and raising funds for the library's construction. With assistance from various parties, the library was completed in 1989, covering an area of 519.4 ping, designed by renowned architect Li Zu-Yuan, featuring a ship-shaped architectural style. In 1992, it was awarded as an excellent township library. The Library and Cultural Museum is located along County Road 164 in Yunlin, with a distinctive sloping roof resembling a ship. The building stands out next to lush green rice fields and from a distance resembles a ship with its sails raised, navigating through the vast ocean, much like the life inspirations conveyed in its books, forever striving tirelessly. It is situated beside County Road 164 in Kouhu Township, characterized by its unique sloping roof design. This library represents Mr. Zheng Feng-Hsi's greatest wish, aiming to provide a comfortable reading environment and a rich collection of books for local children and residents. The library exhibits books and prosthetic limbs used by Zheng Feng-Hsi during his lifetime, allowing visitors to gain further insight into his life and achievements.
