Agnes Shipyard Introduction

- Attraction Introduction - The Aguinaga Shipyard's remains date back to the Japanese colonial period and served as a transportation hub for the Jinguashi coal mine. After the war, it transitioned to being operated by an American company for yacht manufacturing. Today, the exposed steel and concrete exude a sense of decay, which has even attracted Hollywood star Chris Evans for a commercial shoot. - Attraction Features - Originally established in 1919 as the Bashi Men Coal Storage Site, the Aguinaga Shipyard served as an important loading dock for mineral transport during the Japanese colonial era. After the war, it was taken over by the Republic of China government, continuing operations until 1962. From 1966, it was leased by the American Aguinaga Shipyard for yacht and sailboat manufacturing until its closure in 1987. In 2016, the remains of the Aguinaga Shipyard were registered as a historical building in Keelung City, with its massive reinforced concrete structures attracting visitors due to their unique appearance. - Recommended Activities - It is recommended to visit the Aguinaga Shipyard in the early morning or late afternoon to stroll along the outer pathway and appreciate the architectural structures. The sunlight casting onto the mottled walls and steel frames creates a unique interplay of light and shadow. In the evening, one can capture the stunning moment of the sunset filtering through the buildings, making it a must-see highlight for photography enthusiasts. The best lighting can be obtained from the Peace Bridge, while also showcasing the shipyard's architectural structures in their entirety. Please be mindful of safety and on-site signage while photographing, and refrain from entering the factory premises.
