He Ping Dao Geological Park Introduction

- Attraction Introduction - Heping Island Geopark features spectacular coastal erosion landscapes and valuable fossils. The unique formations within the park, such as the Tofu Rock and Mushroom Rock, are captivating, and the site also preserves the Dutch-era relic "Fanzi Cave," making it an outdoor classroom and tourist destination that combines nature and history. - Attraction Features - Heping Island Geopark is located northeast of Keelung and is the area in northern Taiwan where Westerners first set foot and Han people began to settle. The coastal areas of Heping Island, shaped by long-term weathering and erosion from waves, resemble a geological art museum crafted by nature. Visitors can see dramatic coastal erosion formations such as Tofu Rock, Mushroom Rock, and Lion Head Rock, as well as precious fossils and seaside plants. Additionally, there are historical relics from the Dutch period, such as "Fanzi Cave." The erosion platforms at low tide allow for the observation of intertidal organisms. The park's seawater swimming pool is also popular among the public, providing a refreshing retreat during the hot summer days. The seasonal Alabao Bay is open by reservation for guided tours, making it suitable for family outings and outdoor educational exploration of nature. On Heping Island, whether you want to experience culture or appreciate the beautiful interplay of unique geology and sea, you can capture the beauty of Heping Island all at once. - Recommended Activities - You can hike along the mountain trail for a distant view of Keelung Island or observe various intertidal organisms in the tidal zone.
