1949 Taiming Ship Memorial Park Introduction
- Attraction Introduction - On January 27, 1949, the "Taiping" ship, carrying nearly a thousand passengers, departed from Shanghai to Keelung. For these travelers, Taiwan was the "shore of refuge." Unfortunately, the ship collided with a freighter and sank, becoming a significant tragedy in Taiwan's immigration history. To commemorate this major maritime disaster, a monument was erected, with inscriptions facing the sea, embodying hopes for peace and the future. The current "1949 Taiping Memorial Park" is located within the Shawan Historical and Cultural Park, becoming a witness to the memories of joy and sorrow of that era. - Attraction Features - Next to the Dasha Bay beach, visitors can admire the inscription on the "Taiping Memorial for the Victims," which was penned by Yu Youren. It expresses longing for friends and relatives who did not make it ashore and serves as a call to their souls.
