-Spot Introduction- Keelung City God Temple, also known as "Keelung Huguo City God Temple," is located on Zhongyi Road in the bustling Ren'ai District. The temple was built in the 18th year of Jiaqing (1818), and has a history of over two hundred years, making it one of the three major temples in the city. Despite undergoing multiple renovations, the temple retains its original appearance. The main deity, City God, is said to represent the spirit of integrity and guardianship, based on the traditional interpretation of Keelung Hall's judge during the Qing Dynasty, known for his inclusiveness. The temple features clay sculptures of the City God and numerous wooden statues of various deities, including civil and military judges and the six heavenly generals. It has withstood the ravages of war and remains well-preserved, symbolizing significant power in the eyes of the local people. It continues to have a thriving worship activity, providing protection for Keelung Harbor and its residents. -Spot Characteristics- The temple is situated in the city facing the sea, featuring a typical three-part architectural style, with the rear hall being two stories tall, creating a solemn atmosphere. Every year on the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month, the "City God Birthday" and the annual "City God Cultural Festival" are held, attracting large crowds of worshipers. This festival is one of the significant religious and cultural events in Keelung. Inside the temple, many deities of wealth, both civil and military, are enshrined, drawing the public to pray for smooth job hunting, academic advancement, and prosperous careers. -Recommendation- It is recommended to visit during the day to pray for peace and smoothness. Visitors can also appreciate the intricate architectural details and the craftsmanship of stone and wood carvings.
