Wufankeng Introduction
Wufankeng Kou was excavated in 1927 during the Showa era. The ore extracted from the pit was transported via a high-altitude conveyor pipe to a milling site at the foot of the mountain (next to the original Songde Activity Center) for crushing. There was also a light railway passing through the front of the pit, originally operated by the Japanese. After the retrocession, it was contracted by nine major companies. In 1971, mining was completely halted for safety reasons to protect residents and tourists, and all mines have been closed. In front, there is a small community park platform for recreation, offering a view of the sea at Cape Demei.
