Shanjian Road Trail Introduction
The Shanjian Old Trail was paved with granite steps in 1997 and named the "Tourist Trail," reflecting the government's policy approach at that time. In that year, several famous old trails in Jiufen were refurbished to promote tourism, and the original rustic stone steps were replaced with wide and smooth granite paths. When visiting Jinguashih, the Shanjian Old Trail is a highly recommended attraction. The Shanjian Old Trail was once a path connecting Jiufen and the Shui Nan Dong area, but with the development of roads, it gradually fell into disrepair due to a decrease in foot traffic. Built along the gold mining mountain path, travelers will pass by the Shuizun Bridge (also known as the Golden Bridge), where there’s a secret garden known only to locals, making it a bit challenging to find and evoking a sense of nostalgia during the walk. The trail is located on the eastern side of Keelung Mountain, and along the path, there are many homestays in the Shishan community. Descending along this trail offers a distant view of the Yin Yang Sea, and the entire journey takes about two hours.
