Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery (Main Branch) Introduction

The Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery originated from a charity sale held by Master Hsing Yun in 1994 to raise funds for the establishment of Fo Guang University. This event is connected to Fo Guang University, thus the name "Fo Guang Yuan". Currently, there are 27 branches worldwide, serving artists and audiences from various countries through a global network, dedicated to promoting Buddhist teachings through culture and actively advancing the spirit of humanistic Buddhism that seeks truth, goodness, and beauty. The main gallery is located behind the Main Shrine of Fo Guang Shan Monastery in Dashu District, Kaohsiung, covering approximately 600 pings. It features two exhibition halls, one for permanent exhibitions and another available for external exhibition applications, with exhibitions changing every 1-2 months, showcasing works such as Chinese painting, Western painting, sculpture, installation, and mixed media, all free for public viewing, where visitors can also appreciate the beauty of Buddhist architecture and art. Additionally, the main gallery frequently hosts various art lectures, teaching, and training courses, providing the public with a space that combines leisure and aesthetic education.
