Wood-fired Oven Introduction
Passing through the tranquil local temple and circling around the century-old camphor tree and the large tree where soft-furred persimmons coexist, you will find the famous pottery studio "Mutou Kiln." With 22 years of history, Mutou Kiln is not just a rural pottery workshop; it has actively promoted pottery culture and education over the years while creating artworks. The owner, Xu Lianbin, has been involved in pottery since childhood, learning from masters Chen Huantang, Li Chunxiong, Xu Qixuan, and Cai Junwei. His pottery works have won numerous awards in various competitions. To allow the public to gain an in-depth understanding of "the beauty of pottery," Mutou Kiln has planned hand-throwing and pottery classes, where visitors can enjoy the fun of playing with clay by making their own pieces. Additionally, on the second floor in the "Art Exhibition Hall," visitors can admire many intricately crafted pottery creations, including tea sets, flower vases, jars, bottles, bowls, and plates, particularly impressed by the creative glaze colors. Mutou Kiln customizes exquisite crystalline glazes, flowing glazes, and other pottery gifts for organizations, schools, and individuals, and can fire pottery with specified greetings or designs for clients, making them suitable for both collection and gifting, making it worth a visit to enjoy pottery. In recent years, under the strong promotion of the Hakka Affairs Council, the image of the tung flower has become synonymous with Hakka areas. Mutou Kiln actively applies the tung flower motif to various daily pottery items, including elegant water basins, shallow plates adorned with colorful tung flowers, and tea cups and dishes featuring splashes of the "May Snow." Due to the insistence on hand-throwing methods, these tung flower pottery pieces have simple and understated styles, which are aesthetically pleasing and fully reflect the gentle and subtle nature of the tung flower. Moreover, Mutou Kiln's tung flower dinnerware set (including bowls, bone dishes, water cups, vegetable plates, large bowls, and platters) has received certification from the Miaoli County International Culture and Tourism Bureau in the past three years.
