Wood Kiln Introduction
After passing the tranquil land temple and bypassing the century-old camphor tree and the coexisting soft-haired persimmon tree, you will find the renowned pottery studio "Muduoyao" in the Zaoqiao area. Having entered its 22nd year, Muduoyao is not just a rural pottery workshop; over the years, it has actively promoted pottery culture and education while creating art. The founder, Xu Lianbin, has been involved in pottery from a young age, learning from masters Chen Huantang, Li Chunxiong, Xu Qixuan, and Cai Junwei. His pottery works have won numerous awards in various competitions. To help the public gain a deeper understanding of "the beauty of pottery," Muduoyao has planned pottery wheel and ceramics classes, allowing visitors to experience the joy of playing with clay through hands-on pottery-making. Additionally, on the second floor, the "Art Exhibition Hall" showcases many intricately crafted pottery creations, including tea sets, vases, jars, bottles, and plates, particularly highlighted by their creative glazes. Muduoyao customizes exquisite crystal glaze, flowing glaze, and other pottery gifts for organizations, schools, and individuals, and can fire pottery bottles with specified greetings or designs, suitable for both collection and gifting, making it worth a visit to try pottery. In recent years, with strong promotion from the Hakka Affairs Council, the image of the tung blossom has become synonymous with the Hakka region. Muduoyao actively incorporates the tung blossom motif into various everyday pottery items, including elegantly colored washbasins, shallow plates adorned with colorful tung blossoms, and teacups and bowls decorated with dots resembling may snow, all of which are stunning. Due to a commitment to hand-throwing techniques, the shapes and color styles of these tung blossom pottery pieces are simple and understated, making them very appealing, and they fully reflect the gentle and subtle nature of the tung blossom. Furthermore, Muduoyao's tung blossom dinnerware set (bowls, bone plates, water cups, serving plates, rice bowls, large platters) has been certified by the Miaoli County International Cultural Tourism Bureau in the past three years.
