Ying Tsai Academy Introduction
Yingcai Academy (originally: Minnan Academy) covers an area of 9,270 square meters (approximately 3,000 ping) with a building area of 1,387 square meters (approximately 420 ping). The design of the academy references the architectural vocabulary of Minnan style and the essence of various academies while adhering to principles of heritage preservation and creativity. For traditional geographical and architectural forms, the design follows historical principles, while the spatial structure and appearance of the building adopt an antiquarian approach. The literary ambiance created by the pond, bridge, and garden landscapes embodies a creative principle. In terms of sustainable management, the academy aims to focus on cultural heritage, hosting cultural and artistic activities that cover history, arts, and spirituality, thus becoming "living historical architecture, living heritage." It integrates educational resources from the neighboring areas of Qiaoqiao Township and Houlong Township to build a Minnan-style academy with functions for lectures, temple worship, and teaching. The internal planning includes a Wenchang Shrine, Dacheng Hall, lecture hall, static and dynamic exhibition areas, and open space, emphasizing a Minnan cultural characteristic sociocultural center. It aims to create a local education museum reflecting Minnan culture while integrating ecological and sustainable park design. In addition, by consolidating regional educational resources, it provides a quality environment for the public to learn, relax, and engage in ecological and educational activities. The ancient saying "By the stream, one’s thoughts can wander far" aptly describes Yingcai Academy, situated beside the clear waters of the Beishi River. Visitors are first invited to stroll along the riverside path to calm their minds, gaze into the pond at the reflection of the arch bridge and white clouds, and walk across the aromatic path to appreciate the beauty of the academy's red-tiled and white-walled architecture. Upon entering the gate tower and stepping into the serene courtyard, the hustle and bustle of the outside world fade away, leaving only the sound of students earnestly reading.
