Taiwan Hakka Eight-Tone Opera Promotion Center (Miaoli Hakka Roundhouse) Introduction
The Hakka Tulou clusters distributed in Fujian are unique large residential buildings in the world and are regarded as treasures of traditional Chinese dwellings. They have been included in the list of World Cultural Heritage, becoming recognized as the most representative architecture of Hakka culture. Just by seeing the Tulou, one can think of Hakka culture. The "Hakka Round House," which features Tulou architecture, not only highlights the local Hakka cultural characteristics of Miaoli but also combines the beautiful landscape of the renovated Beishi River waterway, creating a stunning facade for Miaoli that showcases local exquisite artistic and cultural features. The Hakka Round House is located near the Miaoli High-Speed Rail Station and is the most essential area of the entire waterway, often referred to as the "heart of Beishi River." Its architectural structure is modeled after the traditional Tulou of the mainland, rich in Hakka flavor, and includes recreational facilities such as a circular walking path, a scenic viewing platform, a welcoming square at the entrance, and a waterfront boardwalk. The Hakka Round House occupies an area of 1,385 square meters with a total floor area of 3,476 square meters, consisting of one basement level and three above-ground floors, forming a circular architectural structure when viewed from above. The planning direction of the Hakka Round House centers around local Hakka culture, particularly since Miaoli is a major development hub for Hakka music and theater. Therefore, it is positioned as a thematic venue for Hakka theater and music, hosting related exhibitions and inviting performance groups to engage the public in appreciation and learning. The main level of the Hakka Round House features a round performance theater, adorned with large characters representing Hakka theater and decorated with floral lanterns on both sides, while the audience seating consists of rustic benches. The second floor primarily serves as an exhibition space, including the "Hakka Theater Museum," "Hakka Music Museum," and "Urban Cultural Exchange Exhibition," which are static exhibitions. The third floor includes DIY workshop classrooms and a multimedia interactive area that uses virtual composite technology, allowing visitors to take photos with famous landmarks and buildings in Miaoli. The basement level houses a multimedia screening room that plays relevant videos. To provide diverse services, the Hakka Round House also includes a restaurant and a retail area offering Hakka cuisine and local特色 creative products, allowing visitors to experience the most authentic local culture of Miaoli. Surrounding the Hakka Round House, night lighting facilities have been installed, enhancing the atmosphere of the Hakka Round House after sunset, with landscape ponds reflecting the moon, presenting a romantic charm different from the daytime. Additionally, every Friday and Saturday night, at 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 PM, there are water dance performances along the Beishi River waterway next to the round house, creating a splendid and enchanting evening in the area surrounding the high-speed rail station. 【Ticket Prices】 ● Full Price: 30 TWD ● Group Ticket (20 or more people): 20 TWD ● Discounted Ticket (for county residents): 10 TWD ● Free Admission: 1.
