Hakka Eight Note Opera Promotion Center (Miaoli Hakka Round House) Introduction
The Hakka Tulou, located in Fujian, is a unique type of large residential building that stands as a treasure of traditional Chinese architecture. It has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is widely recognized as the most representative architecture of Hakka culture. The sight of a Tulou immediately evokes thoughts of the Hakka people. The "Hakka Round House" not only showcases the characteristics of local Hakka culture in Miaoli but also integrates the beautiful landscape of the Beishi River Improvement Project's waterfront walkway, creating a stunning façade for Miaoli and reflecting its exquisite cultural and artistic features. Situated near the Miaoli HSR Station, the Hakka Round House is the highlight of the entire waterfront walkway and is known as the "Heart of Beishi River." Its architectural form is modeled after the traditional Tulou from the ancestral homeland in mainland China, rich in Hakka charm, and is equipped with a circular pond trail, scenic viewing platforms, a welcoming plaza, and a waterfront boardwalk, providing a variety of recreational facilities. Covering an area of 1,385 square meters and with a total floor area of 3,476 square meters, the structure consists of one basement level and three above-ground levels, forming a circular architectural structure when viewed from above. The planning direction of the Hakka Round House centers on local Hakka culture, especially since Miaoli is a major center for Hakka music and theater. Therefore, it is positioned as a thematic venue for Hakka opera and music, arranging relevant performances and inviting performance groups to participate for public enjoyment and learning. The main structure on the first floor is a circular performance theater, featuring large characters for Hakka opera on stage, traditional flower cloth lanterns hanging on both sides, and rustic bench seating for the audience. The second floor is primarily an exhibition space, planned with a "Hakka Opera Museum," "Hakka Music Museum," and "Urban Cultural Exchange Exhibition," which are static displays. The third floor has DIY workshop classrooms and a multimedia interactive area that uses virtual synthesis technology to allow visitors to take commemorative photos with various famous spots and buildings in Miaoli. The basement level consists of a multimedia screening room that plays related films. To provide more diverse services, the Hakka Round House also features an affiliated restaurant and a gift shop that emphasizes Hakka flavors and local creative products, allowing visitors to experience the true essence of Miaoli! Surrounding the "Hakka Round House," nighttime lighting facilities have been installed. Under the night sky, the lighting of the Hakka Round House adds to its beauty, complemented by a scenic pond reflecting the moon, presenting a romantic ambiance distinct from the daytime. Additionally, every Friday and Saturday, at 7 PM, 8 PM, and 9 PM, there are water dance performances along the Beishi River waterfront walkway next to the round house, creating a shimmering and enchanting atmosphere in the area surrounding the HSR station at night! 【Ticket Prices】 ● Regular Ticket: NT$30 ● Group Ticket (20 or more people): NT$20 ● Discount Ticket (residents of the county): NT$10 ● Free Admission: 1.
