Hakka Eight-Tone Opera Promotion Center (Miaoli Hakka Round House) Introduction
The Hakka Tulou cluster located in Fujian is a unique large-scale dwelling, praised as a treasure of traditional Chinese residential architecture. It has been included in the World Cultural Heritage list and is recognized as the most representative building of Hakka culture. The sight of these Tulou evokes an immediate association with the Hakka people. The "Hakka Round House," shaped like a Tulou, not only highlights the local Hakka cultural features of Miaoli but also integrates the beautiful landscape of the water-friendly corridor along the Beishixi River, creating a stunning facade for Miaoli and showcasing its refined artistic and cultural characteristics. The Hakka Round House is located near the Miaoli High-Speed Rail Station, in the prime area of the entire water-friendly corridor, often referred to as the "Heart of Beishixi River." Its architectural design mimics that of the traditional Tulou in mainland China, rich in Hakka flavor, and features a circular walking path, a viewing arc platform, an entrance plaza, and water-friendly boardwalks, providing various recreational facilities. Covering an area of 1,385 square meters with a total floor area of 3,476 square meters, the structure has one basement level and three above-ground floors, presenting a circular architectural form when viewed from above. The planning of the Hakka Round House centers around local Hakka culture, especially since Miaoli is a pivotal region for the development of Hakka music and theater. Therefore, it is designated as a thematic venue for Hakka opera and music, organizing related performances and inviting performing groups to provide opportunities for public appreciation and learning. The main body of the first floor features a round performance theater, adorned with large Hakka opera character banners and traditional fabric lanterns, while the audience seating consists of rustic benches. The second floor mainly serves as an exhibition space, featuring the "Hakka Opera Museum," "Hakka Music Museum," and "City Cultural Exchange Exhibition," which are static exhibitions. The third floor is equipped with DIY workshop classrooms and a multimedia interactive area using virtual synthesis technology, allowing visitors to take photos with famous Miaoli landmarks and buildings. The basement has a multimedia screening room showing related films. To provide more diverse services, the Hakka Round House also includes a restaurant and a gift shop, offering Hakka flavors and locally-inspired creative merchandise, allowing visitors to taste and experience the genuine local customs of Miaoli! Surrounding the "Hakka Round House," nighttime lighting facilities have been set up, illuminating the Tulou after sunset, accompanied by a scenic pond that reflects the moon, presenting a romantic atmosphere distinct from the daytime. Additionally, every Friday and Saturday at 7 PM, 8 PM, and 9 PM, water dance performances are held at the water-friendly corridor alongside the Hakka Round House, creating a dazzling and enchanting night scene for the area around the high-speed rail station! 【Ticket Prices】 ● Full Ticket: NT$30 ● Group Ticket (for 20 people or more): NT$20 ● Concession Ticket (for residents of the county): NT$10 ● Free Admission: 1.
