Taiwan Hakka Eight-Note Opera Promotion Center (Miaoli Hakka Round House) Introduction
The Hakka Tulou clusters located in Fujian are unique large residential buildings, regarded as treasures of traditional Chinese residences. They have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are recognized as the most representative architecture of Hakka culture. Upon seeing the Tulou, one immediately thinks of Hakka. The "Hakka Round House," shaped like the Tulou, not only highlights the characteristics of the local Hakka culture in Miaoli but also combines the beautiful scenery of the waterfront corridor along the Beishi River, creating a stunning façade for Miaoli that showcases local exquisite cultural features. The Hakka Round House is located near the Miaoli HSR station and is the most significant area of the entire waterfront corridor, often referred to as the "Heart of Beishi River." Its architectural design replicates that of the traditional Tulou in the mainland, fully embodying Hakka culture. It features a circular pond walkway, a viewing arc platform, a welcome plaza, and a waterfront promenade, providing rich recreational facilities. The Hakka Round House covers an area of 1,385 square meters with a total floor area of 3,476 square meters, consisting of one underground floor and three above-ground floors, forming a circular structure when viewed from above. The planning direction of the Hakka Round House focuses on local Hakka culture, especially since Miaoli is a pivotal location for the development of Hakka music and opera. Thus, it is designated as a thematic venue for Hakka opera and music, arranged with related performances and inviting performing groups for the public to enjoy and learn. The main body of the first floor is a circular performance theater, featuring large characters of Hakka opera on stage, vibrant fabric lanterns hanging on both sides, and traditional wooden benches for the audience. The second floor primarily serves as an exhibition space, including the "Hakka Opera Museum," "Hakka Music Museum," and "Urban Cultural Exchange Exhibition," which showcases static exhibits. The third floor has DIY workshop classrooms and a multimedia interactive area that utilizes virtual synthesis technology to allow visitors to take photos with famous attractions and buildings in Miaoli. The underground floor features a multimedia screening room that plays related videos. To provide more diverse services, the Hakka Round House also includes an affiliated restaurant and a gift shop that offers Hakka-flavored and locally-themed creative products, allowing visitors to experience the genuine local flavor of Miaoli! Around the "Hakka Round House," night lighting facilities have been installed, creating a romantic atmosphere after sunset with the illuminated Round House complementing the scenic pond. Additionally, every Friday and Saturday night at 7, 8, and 9 PM, water dance performances occur along the Beishi River waterfront corridor beside the Round House, making the nights around the HSR station even more dazzling and charming! 【Ticket Prices】 ● Full ticket: NT$30 ● Group ticket (20 or more people): NT$20 ● Discounted ticket (residents of the county): NT$10 ● Free admission: 1.
