Yuanlin Xingxian Academy Introduction
The former Xingtian Academy, a county-designated historical site originally named "Wenchang Emperor Temple," is dedicated to the worship of the Wenchang Emperor and has a history of nearly two hundred years. The "Wenchang Emperor Temple" was established in the 12th year of the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty (1807 AD) and served as a local academy. During its early period, it housed the Xingtian Society, which provided a place for scholars from the Yanlin area to gather and cultivate friendships as a space for diligence and camaraderie. The academy features a double-entry architectural style, with simple teaching and living spaces. Its structure includes the main hall, rear hall, side rooms, flower hall, and the Jingsheng Pavilion. The design of the main hall is characterized by its simple and unadorned framework, belonging to the relatively rare double hip roof style. Important cultural relics within the academy include the "Royal Path Stone," also known as "Dragon Steps," which is intricately carved from granite into a swirling dragon pattern. This stone, while humble, exudes a certain spirit, with its ancient yet detailed appearance.
