Yuanlin Hengwen Temple Introduction
Yuanlin City in Changhua County is home to Hengwen Temple, which is dedicated to the worship of Xuantian Shangdi (the Dark Emperor). It is famous for its impressive ten-story high statue of Xuantian Shangdi, making it the tallest statue of its kind in Southeast Asia. In recent years, miraculous events have been observed; in front of the altar on the fourth floor of the statue, approximately at heart level, there is a small area of flooring about 50 centimeters in length and width that feels warm when standing on it, although one cannot feel the warmth with their hands. This experience is definitely worth trying to personally witness the miracles. Historical research confirms that the Xuantian Shangdi statue at Hengwen Temple is the largest in the country. The interior of the statue also houses deities such as Doumu (the Goddess of the Big Dipper) and the Thirty-Six Deities. Additionally, the inner walls feature craftsmanship from artisans in Pingtung, depicting the historical records of Xuantian Shangdi's enlightenment from Wudang Mountain in mainland China, making it the only complete mural of Xuantian Shangdi's achievements in Taiwan. The site is rich in religious art and value, attracting media coverage and a continuous stream of visitors to honor the divine power of Xuantian Shangdi.
