Yuanlin Hengwen Temple Introduction
Yuanlin City, Changhua County's Hengwen Temple, dedicated to the deity Xuantian Shangdi, is famous for its nearly 10-story tall statue that is renowned as the tallest Xuantian Shangdi statue in Southeast Asia. In recent years, miraculous phenomena have been discovered; on the floor in front of the shrine at the heart of the 4th level of the statue, there is a small area about 50 centimeters by 50 centimeters where standing on it feels warm, yet touching it with your hands feels normal, making it a worthwhile experience to witness the divine signs in person. Historical research confirms that the Xuantian Shangdi statue at Hengwen Temple is the largest of its kind in the country. Inside the statue, besides worshipping Doumu (the Mother of the Big Dipper) and the sixty star deities, the interior walls feature wall paintings commissioned from artisans in Pingtung, depicting the history of Xuantian Shangdi's enlightenment as recorded in Wudang Mountain, making it the only complete mural of Xuantian Shangdi's achievement in Taiwan, rich in religious art and value. Various media outlets report on this, and the temple attracts a steady stream of visitors, celebrating the divine power of Xuantian Shangdi.
