Yuanlin Hengwen Temple Introduction
Yuanlin City in Changhua County is home to Hengwen Temple, which is dedicated to the deity Xuantian Shangdi. The temple is famous for its large statue of Xuantian Shangdi, which stands nearly ten stories tall, making it the tallest statue of Xuantian Shangdi in Southeast Asia. In recent years, miraculous phenomena have been reported; in the internal shrine on the 4th floor, around the heart area of the statue, there is a small section of flooring about 50 centimeters wide, which feels warm when standing on it, yet one cannot feel the warmth by touching it with their hands. This experience is definitely worth trying to personally witness the divine phenomenon. Historical research confirms that the statue of Xuantian Shangdi at Hengwen Temple is the largest in the country. Inside the statue, alongside the offerings to Doumu and the Sixty Star Lords, the inner walls feature exquisite murals commissioned from artisans in Pingtung, based on the historical scriptures of Xuantian Shangdi's cultivation from Mount Wudang in mainland China. This makes it the only complete mural of Xuantian Shangdi's achievements in Taiwan, rich in religious art and significance. Various media outlets have reported on it, attracting a continuous flow of visitors who come to honor the divine might of Xuantian Shangdi.
