Yuanlin Hengwen Temple Introduction
Hengwen Temple in Yuanlin City, Changhua County, is dedicated to Xuantian Shangdi and is famous for its nearly 10-story tall statue of Xuantian Shangdi, which is also the tallest Xuantian Shangdi statue in Southeast Asia. In recent years, miraculous incidents have been reported; in the internal shrine on the fourth floor, around the heart area of the statue, there is a small square section of the floor approximately 50 cm in length and width that feels warm when standing on it, but does not feel warm to the touch. This experience is highly recommended for those who wish to personally witness the divine. Research has confirmed that the statue of Xuantian Shangdi at Hengwen Temple is the largest in the country. Inside the statue, besides enshrining Doumu (the Mother of Stars) and the Sixty Star Lords, the inner walls feature murals meticulously crafted by artisans from Pingtung, based on the teachings of Xuantian Shangdi from Wudang Mountain in mainland China. These murals represent the only complete depiction of Xuantian Shangdi's ascendance in Taiwan, rich in religious art and value, garnering immense media attention and a continuous flow of visitors, all highlighting the divine power of Xuantian Shangdi.
