Guangyuan Sea of Clouds Introduction
From Tianxiang along the Central Cross-Island Highway towards Dasyueshan, after passing through a series of tunnels and winding roads, you will arrive at Guanyuan, located at an altitude of 2,374 meters. Guanyuan is an important settlement and tourist destination east of Dasyueshan, situated on a flat ridge area with broad views, famous for its breathtaking sea of clouds scenery. Surrounded by mountains and positioned in a high-altitude region above the fog forest, it is adjacent to the Tajikiri Creek (middle stream of the Lidu Creek). When air flows up the valley, moisture often accumulates here. When the sun shines, the moisture stored in the forest evaporates and condenses into clouds that gather like a sea; in poor weather, the moisture in the valley has nowhere to escape, accumulating more, creating the sea of clouds phenomenon. Being there, clouds drift beside you, hazy and ethereal. The best times for cloud watching are in the early morning and evening. If fortunate, the sea of clouds is slightly elevated, even cascading over Dasyueshan, creating a cloud waterfall, allowing you to appreciate the grandeur of Qilai North Peak and the surrounding sea of clouds. At sunset, it presents another stunning view with red clouds covering the sky, leaving one in awe. The best viewing spot is the parking lot next to the Guanyuan gas station facing the mouth of Lidu Creek.
