Flower Island, Flower Island Lighthouse Introduction
Hua Island is located to the south-west of Wang-an Island, making it the westernmost island in Penghu County and the furthest west in Taiwan, with its highest point reaching about 53 meters. The terrain of Hua Island is similar to that of other islands in Penghu, but its geology is different; while other islands are mainly composed of basalt, the rocks that make up Hua Island are primarily andesite, formed between 90 million to 50 million years ago, making it the oldest island in the Penghu archipelago. Due to long-term weathering, various rock landscapes have developed. During low tide, on the southeastern coastal erosion rock of Hua Island, one can see the legendary "Fairy Footprint" of the left foot, which corresponds with the right foot of Tiantai Mountain on Wang-an Island. The island also features various rock formations like the Couple Stone (Lovers' Stone), Stone Guanyin, Stone Monkey, and Old Man Rock. At the summit of Hua Island stands the Hua Island Lighthouse, the main landmark near Hua Island. It was constructed during the Japanese era due to its military value and was completed in Showa 14 (1939). The tower is a white circular structure made of reinforced concrete, standing at 12.5 meters tall, making it the westernmost lighthouse in Taiwan. It is currently equipped with a fourth-order flashing light that flashes white every 5 seconds, with a light intensity of 1600 candlepower, and is managed remotely.
