Qiedong Waterfall Introduction
Qidong Waterfall, located in the Qidongjiao area of Xizhi District, New Taipei City, is hidden in the valley behind Dajian Mountain. It is the largest waterfall in the Dajian Mountain area, standing about four to five stories tall, with multiple tiers and a pool formed at the bottom. It is hard to imagine such a large waterfall in such a low mountain area. Qidong Waterfall can be accessed from Fuzhi Mountain Villa or by following the Qidong Historic Trail, with the sound of gurgling stream accompanying the journey. There are steep rock cliffs beside the waterfall, and in the nearby forest, stone tables and chairs are located, allowing visitors to sit and listen to the sounds of the waterfall while enjoying the beauty of the mountains and forests. The Qidong Historic Trail was once a road for the local residents to reach Shiding. Entering from the Qidong Waterfall Trail, a five-minute ascent along the stone steps leads to the five-story-tall Qidong Waterfall, where the waters cascade into the pool below, which is wide and flat. Visitors can sit and listen to the sounds of the water, enjoying the splash and soaking in the negative ions and phytoncides. Continuing to meander along the Qidong Valley, the sound of the flowing stream is incessant, with moss-covered ancient stones and serene simplicity. Along the way, there are elegant-shaped camphor trees, a Tudi Gong temple, and remnants of abandoned stone houses left by the ancestors who settled and cultivated the land, showcasing both cultural features and natural beauty.
