Coastal Viewing Promenade Introduction
The Guanhai Long Dyke is located within the Wazihwei Wetland Protection Area in the BaLi District of New Taipei City, situated at Lane 87, Section 1, Zhongzheng Road. Facing the estuary, on the right is the Fisherman's Wharf, and on the left is Bali. The dyke is 306 meters long and marks the mouth of the Wazihwei Lagoon, making it the best spot to observe both sides of the Tamsui River and the estuary. Access to the Guanhai Long Dyke was previously restricted due to military presence nearby, but it has since been opened for visitors to enjoy birdwatching and scenic views. Bali Wazihwei and Tamsui Yuqiekou are positioned across from each other on the northern and southern banks of the Tamsui River, where the majestic Tamsui River flows into the Taiwan Strait. Standing on the wooden walkway of the Guanhai Long Dyke, one is treated to a stunning view of the horizon where the sea meets the sky. Along the dyke, there are bilingual ecological plant signboards providing explanations of various species, such as saddle vines and cacti. During low tide, visitors can also observe the numerous Buddha crabs scuttling beneath the dyke, allowing for a closer appreciation of nature's ecology.
