Coastal Scenic Walkway Introduction
The Guanhai Long Dyke is located in the Waziwei Wetland Protection Area in Bali District, New Taipei City, specifically on Lane 87, Section 1, Zhongzheng Road. It faces the estuary, with the Fisherman's Wharf to the right and Bali to the left. The long dyke measures 306 meters and is at the mouth of the Waziwei lagoon, making it the best vantage point to view both sides of the Tamsui River and the estuary. There is a military presence near the dyke, which previously restricted access, but it has since been opened for visitors to enjoy birdwatching and sightseeing. The Waziwei in Bali and the Yochiekou in Tamsui are situated across from each other along the northern and southern banks of the Tamsui River, which powerfully flows into the Taiwan Strait at this point. Standing on the wooden pathway of the Guanhai Long Dyke, visitors are greeted by a breathtaking view of the horizon where the sea meets the sky. Along the dyke, there are bilingual (Chinese and English) ecological plant information signs describing various species such as the saddle vine and cactus. During low tide, visitors can also observe numerous fiddler crabs scurrying below the dyke, providing a glimpse of the vibrant natural ecosystem.
