Shan Shang Tian Hou Temple Introduction
In the 15th year of the Ming Yongli period (1661 AD), the statue of "Er Niang Niang," the guardian deity of navigation, came to Taiwan from Fujian with Zheng Chenggong's navy. After landing on the platform, soldiers were stationed at various locations to cultivate the land. At that time, a general under Zheng Chenggong led troops to garrison at "Bei Zai Wei" (later renamed Guoxing Lake) and sought a place for Er Niang Niang to settle and be worshipped. Er Niang Niang then looked south towards three majestic mountains (historically, the mountains extending from the Mengzheng Village to the current Shan Zi Wei are known for their beauty and spiritual significance, making it an auspicious place to live). Consequently, she instructed the stationed troops to relocate to the top of the mountain, where the faithful Lin Dian formally welcomed Er Niang Niang to the left front of the current temple site, and a thatched hut was built as a temple to honor Er Niang Niang, thus establishing the foundation of Tian Hou Temple.
