Zhaobanyi Cultural Park Introduction

In 1915, as Japan marked the twentieth year of its colonial rule over Taiwan, grievances deepened under an unjust tax system, legal system, and an all-pervasive police state. Thus, Yu Qingfang and others gathered funds for anti-Japanese activities under the guise of renovating the Xilai Temple. In the summer of that year, the largest armed anti-Japanese incident since the beginning of Japanese rule erupted in the region of Zhulun. Hundreds lost their lives in the event, and thousands suffered casualties. Many were arrested and sentenced in connection with this incident, which spread across Taiwan. This historical event is known as the Zhulun Incident, also referred to as the Xilai Temple Incident or the Yu Qingfang Incident.
