Tainan Shih-Chan Community Museum Introduction
The Taijiang Shisantian Zheng Family Community Museum is a learning space that highlights the history of land reclamation in Taijiang and envisions the future. 1. Establishment: Several years ago, the Zheng family ancestors from Taijiang Shisantian participated in the movement to build the Taijiang Community Museum. They collaborated with the Tainan Community College Taijiang Branch, the Tainan Cultural Affairs Bureau, local temples, and schools, under the concept that a village is a museum, to promote the construction of the Shisantian Community Museum. In 2017, the four generations of the Zheng family reached a consensus and hired a team led by the approved painter Mr. Chen Pingsheng from the Ministry of Culture to restore and repaint the ancestral house. They further collaborated with Tainan Community College Taijiang Branch, the Taijiang Cultural Center, and others to establish the Zheng family ancestral house as the cultural base of the Shisantian community, organizing events such as the Taijiang Greenway Ancestral Music Concert, community museum guided tours, experiences of local rural life, cultural path tours, and outdoor teaching for schools. To facilitate external interactions, on May 15, 2024, they applied for registration with the Tainan Cultural Affairs Bureau under the name "Taijiang Shisantian Cultural Workshop", with the official registration date being May 29, 2024. 2. Mission: 1. Preserve the historical artifacts of Taijiang, create the Taijiang Community Museum, develop Taijiang cultural paths and historical sites, protect the greenway of streams and irrigation ditches in the Taijiang basin, and promote research and teaching on Taijiang culture. 2. Use the Zheng Family Ancestral Museum in Taijiang Shisantian as the main activity base, integrating with local schools and communities such as the Taijiang Community College and various elementary and junior high schools to hold guided tours and educational activities related to Taijiang history, education, and culture. This will help teachers, students, and community members learn about Taijiang's history, geography, and culture. 3. Assist in organizing related cultural research and activities in the Taijiang area. 3. Brief History of the Taijiang Shisantian Zheng Family's Land Reclamation: 1. Family History: Great-grandfather Zheng Wei came to Zhenganpu after crossing the Zengwen River during the Daoguang period. On November 10, 1853, in the third year of the Xianfeng reign, he married Cai Man, the sixth daughter of Cai Shih from Zongtou Liao, and had two sons, Zheng Zhao (great-grandfather) and Zheng Ye. Zheng Ye married Chen Sheng from Benyuanliao on November 11, 1893, during the Meiji period. Great-grandfather Zheng Zhao was swept away by the river while paying respects to his ancestors in 1902. His wife, Chen Lai (from Xixinliao), then 36 years old, supported the family by serving her mother-in-law Cai Man and raising four children. 2. Ancestral House Construction: The Zheng family's ancestral house was originally located in a flat area north of the Sanhe courtyard. In 1929, great-grandmother moved with her three sons to the current site and built the existing traditional brick Sanhe courtyard.
