Taiping Old Street Introduction
Duliu Taiping Old Street, with its ancient charm and traditional Taiwanese flavor, is lined with old Western-style buildings, predominantly featuring Baroque architecture. The streets are home to traditional Taiwanese delicacies such as egg rice, taro balls, meatballs, and squid soup, often attracting foreign tourists and filled with the nostalgic ambiance favored by elderly locals. Taiping Old Street is located on Taiping Road in Douliu City, Yunlin County, stretching approximately 600 meters. Taiping Road has always been Douliu's main shopping street, and the buildings along the old street are primarily designed in Baroque style, established during the Japanese occupation over 90 years ago. Each building is two stories high, with some adorned with family names, showcasing intricate and lifelike decorative patterns on the walls and exteriors, reflecting not only the aesthetic beauty of the architecture but also the heritage of prominent family lineages.
