Taiping Old Street Introduction
The old street of Taiping in Douliu, Yunlin County, is steeped in traditional Taiwanese charm with its antiquated buildings featuring Baroque architectural styles. The streets are lined with traditional Taiwanese delicacies such as egg rice, taro balls, meatballs, and squid soup, which attract foreign tourists and evoke nostalgia among older generations. Taiping Old Street is located on Taiping Road in Douliu City, stretching approximately 600 meters. Taiping Road has always been the main commercial street in Douliu. The buildings on the old street primarily showcase Baroque design and have a history of over 90 years dating back to the Japanese colonial period. Each building is two stories high, with some featuring family names and exquisite, lifelike decorative carvings on their walls and facades, reflecting both the aesthetic beauty of architectural artistry and the significance of prestigious families.
