Taiping Old Street Introduction
The old-fashioned and culturally rich Taiping Old Street in Douliu City features old Western-style buildings that predominantly adopt Baroque architecture. Along the streets, traditional Taiwanese delicacies such as egg rice, taro ball ice, meatballs, and squid soup can be found, attracting many foreign tourists, while also appealing to the older generation with its nostalgic flavors. Taiping Old Street is located on Taiping Road in Douliu City, Yunlin County, stretching approximately 600 meters. Taiping Road has always been the main shopping street in Douliu, and the building characteristics of the old street primarily showcase Baroque-style design, with a history of over 90 years since it was established during the Japanese colonial period. Each building is two stories high, with some featuring engravings of family surnames, and the walls and exteriors are adorned with exquisite and lifelike decorative patterns, reflecting not only the aesthetic beauty of architectural art but also the significance of prominent family lineage.
