Dragon Crossing Trail Introduction
The Ecological Dragon Trail is said to be named for the mountain ridgelines that resemble the spine of a dragon when viewed from a high point. The trail has three access points and is a pleasant route with expansive views. It is ecologically rich; during the Qingming Festival, you can see purple butterflies dancing, and on regular days, you can spot Formosan blue magpies and Taiwan macaques moving about. The Longguo Forest Trail is located within the Linnei Township, near Linnei Park, and stretches approximately 4.2 kilometers. It is one of the top 100 trails recommended by the Forest Service of Taiwan, with three access points: Tieguankeng, Luokeng, and Pingding. The Linnei Mountain Range, along with Caoling and Zhushan Township in Nantou County, embraces layers of peaks; it is said that from the junction of Caoling and Zhushan, looking down into the lower mountains, the ridgelines within Linnei resemble the spine of a dragon, and as your gaze shifts to the confluence of the Zhuoshui River and the Qing Shui River, it appears as though the dragon is drinking water, hence the name "Longguo."
