Jian Guo Military Village Introduction
Quiet Living Footprints: The Jingguo Military Village is a serene and lush environment, fully preserving the military housing originally converted from stables during the Japanese colonial period. The historical scars from early artillery bombardments remain, and with the unique atmosphere of the old military village, the addition of art and cultural markets makes walking through this cultural heritage feel like stepping into a romantic drama, allowing for both leisurely exploration and nostalgia. Located in Huwei Township, Yunlin County, Jingguo Military Village boasts a unique culture and poetic ambiance. The fresh and tranquil environment, along with its dense tree canopy, creates a setting reminiscent of a forest park. Additionally, it features military houses converted from stables dating back to the Japanese colonial era and historical traces of artillery fire nearby, representing countless generations of living footprints. The origins of Jingguo Military Village date back to 1938 during World War II when Huwei was chosen as a military base for the Navy Air Force. In 1943, as the war situation became dire, the Japanese military used Jingguo Military Village as a base of operations and trained the Kamikaze special attack units. After Japan's defeat, the Nationalist government relocated to Taiwan and designated this area as a military stronghold.
