JianGuo Military Village Introduction
The Tranquil Footprints of Life: The Jianguo Military Village, surrounded by lush greenery and a serene environment, has preserved the military residences converted from stables dating back to the Japanese colonial period. The historical scars from past artillery strikes remain, and with the addition of art and cultural markets, entering this cultural heritage site feels like stepping into a drama. Located in Huwei Township, Yunlin County, the unique and poetic Jianguo Military Village offers a fresh and quiet environment, reminiscent of a forest park. Additionally, it features military residences transformed from stables during the Japanese occupation, along with historical traces of artillery fire nearby, reflecting the life footprints of countless generations. The Jianguo Military Village originated during World War II in 1938 when Huwei was chosen as a military base for the naval air force. In 1943, due to the urgent war situation, the Japanese military established the Jianguo Military Village as a base and trained the Kamikaze pilots. After Japan's defeat, the Nationalist government relocated to Taiwan and used this area as a military stronghold.
