JianGuo Community Introduction
Tranquil Footprints of Life: The Jian guo Village, with its lush greenery and quiet environment, has preserved the historic military residences originally built from stables during the Japanese colonial period. The scars of its past, marked by bombings, remain evident, and as the unique ambiance of this old village combines with various art and cultural markets, visiting this cultural heritage feels akin to stepping into an idol drama—allowing for enjoyable strolls as well as nostalgic reflections. Located in Huwei Township, Yunlin County, there stands a village rich in unique culture and poetic charm—“Jian guo Village.” This village offers a fresh and serene environment, surrounded by dense tree cover, reminiscent of a forest park. It features military residences converted from stables from the Japanese colonial era, along with nearby historical remnants of artillery fire, embodying the footprints of countless generations. "Jian guo Village" originated during World War II in 1938 when Huwei was selected as a military base for the naval aviation team. In 1943, due to pressing war conditions, the Japanese army established "Jian guo Village" as a base for operations and trained the Kamikaze corps here. After Japan's defeat, the National Government relocated to Taiwan and used this site as a military stronghold.
