Tree & Fire Memorial Paper Museum Introduction
Since Cai Lun of the Eastern Han Dynasty used tree bark, hemp, and rags to make paper, the technology has evolved over time, gradually improving into various exquisite forms of paper. Mr. Chen Shuhuo, the founder of Changchun Cotton Paper Mill, recognized the regret that "paper, which nurtures Chinese culture, has not been promoted in modern times" after years of dedicated operation. He thus vowed to establish a paper museum. After five years of preparation, the Shuhuo Memorial Paper Museum officially opened to the public in October 1995. The first floor is divided into a gift shop and a handmade paper demonstration factory, selling various contemporary design-related products and occasionally launching themed products. The demonstration factory simulates the manual paper-making process for visitors to understand. The second floor is currently an exhibition space that accepts exhibition applications from various sectors. The third floor is a scientific experimental area about paper, allowing parents and children to learn about paper through interactive experiences and sensory perception. The fourth floor is a paper-making experience area where everyone can personally make a sheet of paper to take home. There is also a focus on recycled paper and environmental education promotion, encouraging the conservation of Earth's resources.
