Tree Fire Memorial Paper Museum Introduction

Since Cai Lun of the Eastern Han Dynasty used tree bark, ramie, and old cloth to create paper, the technology has evolved, gradually improving into various refined types of paper. Mr. Chen Shu-Huo, the founder of Changchun Cotton Paper Factory, has been rooted in this business for decades and felt the regret that "paper, which is nurtured in Chinese culture, has not been promoted in modern times," thus he vowed to establish a paper museum. After five years of preparation, the Shu-Huo Memorial Paper Museum officially opened to the public in October 1995. The first floor is divided into a retail shop and a handmade paper demonstration factory, selling various contemporary design-related products and periodically launching themed items. The demonstration factory simulates the handmade paper manufacturing process for visitors to understand. The second floor currently serves as an exhibition hall, accepting exhibition applications from various sectors. The third floor is a scientific experiment area about paper, allowing parents and children to learn about paper through interaction and sensory experiences. The fourth floor is a paper-making experience area where everyone can personally make a piece of paper to take home. There are also initiatives for recycled paper and environmental education promotion, encouraging the conservation of Earth's resources.
