Tree Fire Memorial Paper Museum Introduction
Since Cai Lun of the Eastern Han Dynasty used tree bark, hemp, and rags to make paper, the technology has evolved over time, leading to the development of various exquisite types of paper. Mr. Chen Shuhuo, the founder of the Changchun Cotton Paper Factory, had been deeply rooted in his business for decades. Feeling a sense of regret that "paper, which is nurtured in Chinese culture, has not been promoted in modern times," he pledged to establish a paper museum. After five years of preparation, the Shuhuo Memorial Paper Museum officially opened to the public in October 1995. The first floor is divided into a store and a handmade papermaking demonstration factory, selling various contemporary design-related products and periodically launching themed items. The demonstration factory simulates the handmade paper manufacturing process for visitors to understand. The second floor is currently an exhibition area that accepts exhibition applications from various sectors. The third floor is a scientific experiment area about paper, where interactive experiences engage families in learning about paper through their senses. The fourth floor is a papermaking experience area where everyone can personally make a sheet of paper to take home. This area also promotes recycled paper and environmental education, encouraging the conservation of Earth's resources.
