Zhongshan North Road Alley Shopping Area Introduction
Zhongshan North Road's Tiao Tong culture originates from the Japanese colonial period. The various Japanese-style eateries and bars within the streets are popular spots for many Japanese expatriates and tourists, exuding an exotic charm that has persisted since that era, creating an atmosphere closely intertwined with Taiwan's history. To this day, Tiao Tong retains a strong Eastern ambiance, featuring not only izakayas and kaiseki restaurants but also a variety of Japanese home-cooked dishes, such as stewed potatoes, oden, unagi don, and grilled meat, with the scent of old Tokyo wafting through the alleys. The Taiwanese-Japanese culinary fusion found here also reflects Taiwan's dining culture from past to present, with Qitiao Tong being the birthplace of Taiwan's BBQ culture.
