Zhongshan North Road Shopping District Introduction

The Tiao Tong culture on Zhongshan North Road originated during the Japanese occupation. The various Japanese snack shops and bars in the area are popular among many Japanese expatriates and tourists, showcasing an exotic atmosphere that has been preserved since that time, deeply intertwined with Taiwan's history. To this day, Tiao Tong retains a rich Eastern charm, featuring not only izakayas and kaiseki restaurants but also many Japanese home-cooked dishes such as potato stew, oden, eel rice, and grilled meat. The taste of old Tokyo wafts through the alleys. The collection of Taiwanese and Japanese cuisine here also reflects the evolution of Taiwan's food culture from the past to the present, with Qitiaotong being the birthplace of Taiwan's grilled meat culture.
